Hayden Lesley Panettiere (born August 21, 1989) is an American actress and singer. She started acting when she was very young. Hayden is famous for her roles in popular TV shows and movies.
She played Claire Bennet in the superhero TV series Heroes (2006–2010). She was also Kirby Reed in the scary movie series Scream (2011–2023). Another big role was Juliette Barnes in the musical drama series Nashville (2012–2018). For Nashville, she was nominated for two Golden Globe Awards.
Hayden first appeared in a TV commercial when she was only eleven months old in 1990. Her acting career really took off in 1994. She played Sarah Roberts in the TV show One Life to Live. Later, she was Lizzie Spaulding in Guiding Light from 1996 to 2000. She also voiced Dot in the Pixar film A Bug's Life (1998). This role earned her a Young Artist Award and a Grammy Award nomination. She was one of the youngest people ever nominated for a Grammy.
Hayden has been in many other films. These include Remember the Titans (2000), Raising Helen (2004), and Bring It On: All or Nothing (2006). She also lent her voice to characters in video games. She voiced Kairi and Xion in the Kingdom Hearts video game series. She also voiced Samantha "Sam" Giddings in the game Until Dawn (2015).

Hayden Panettiere was born and grew up in Palisades, New York. Her mother, Lesley R. Vogel, used to be a soap opera actress. Her father, Alan Lee "Skip" Panettiere, was a captain in the New York City Fire Department. Hayden has a younger brother, Jansen Panettiere, who is also an actor.
After attending middle school, Hayden was homeschooled. She had private tutors to help her keep up with her studies. This allowed her to continue acting while finishing high school.

Television Roles
Hayden's first TV appearance was in a commercial for a toy train when she was less than a year old. She then got roles in soap operas. She played Sarah Roberts on One Life to Live from 1994 to 1997. After that, she played Lizzie Spaulding on Guiding Light from 1996 to 2000. While on Guiding Light, her character Lizzie had leukemia. Hayden received a special award for helping people learn more about the disease.
She was nominated for an award for her role in the 1999 TV movie If You Believe. Hayden also appeared in Ally McBeal and Malcolm in the Middle. She guest-starred in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in two different roles.

Hayden became very famous for playing Claire Bennet in the NBC series Heroes. In this show, she was a high school cheerleader with amazing healing powers. Her role on Heroes made her popular at science fiction conventions around the world. She sometimes felt that her acting choices were limited because people saw her as only the "popular cheerleader type."
In March 2012, Hayden was cast in the ABC musical drama series Nashville. She played Juliette Barnes, a country music star. The show later moved to CMT and ended in 2018.

Hayden was nominated for a Grammy Award in 1999 for A Bug's Life. She has recorded several songs for Disney films. These include "My Hero Is You" for Tiger Cruise (2004) and "I Fly" for Ice Princess (2005). She also sang "Cruella De Vil" for Disneymania 5 and "I Still Believe" for Cinderella III: A Twist in Time.
In 2008, Hayden released her first single, "Wake Up Call." She also recorded many songs for the TV show Nashville. These songs were released on the show's soundtrack albums. She also performed in concerts to promote the show.

In 2006, Hayden became a cover girl for Neutrogena's global ad campaign. In 2007, she appeared in a Heroes-themed Got Milk? advertisement. The famous photographer Annie Leibovitz took the pictures. In 2008, Kohl's announced that Hayden would be the new spokesperson for their Candie's brand. She also designed special handbags for Dooney & Bourke and modeled them in magazines.
Activism and Causes
Hayden is a strong supporter of various causes. In 2007, she became an official supporter of Ronald McDonald House Charities. She is part of their celebrity board, called the Friends of RMHC.
She is also an activist for ocean animals. In 2007, Hayden joined The Whaleman Foundation to try and stop the annual dolphin hunt in Japan. She was part of a group that confronted Japanese fishermen. Parts of this event can be seen in the documentary film The Cove. She also sent letters to the Norwegian and Japanese ambassadors, asking them to stop whale hunting.
In 2008, Hayden helped with an eBay auction to raise money for Save the Whales Again. This campaign was part of The Whaleman Foundation. She explained that her fame from Heroes gave her a way to speak up for things she cared about.
Hayden has also supported voting rights for Washington, D.C.. She appeared in a public service announcement for this cause. In 2011, the mayor of Washington, D.C., even named a day in her honor. She said it was unfair that people in D.C. pay taxes but don't have full representation in Congress.
In 2013, Hayden and her then-fiancé Wladimir Klitschko visited the Euromaidan protests in Ukraine. Wladimir's brother was a leader in the protests.
Personal Life

Hayden dated her Heroes co-star Milo Ventimiglia from 2007 to 2009.
In 2009, Hayden met boxer Wladimir Klitschko. They started dating and later got engaged in 2013. In December 2014, Hayden gave birth to their daughter.
In 2015, Hayden shared that she experienced postpartum depression after her daughter was born. She said it was "scary and needs to be talked about" to help others. In 2018, Hayden and Wladimir Klitschko broke up but remained friends.
