All-Star Game Picks
The National Hockey League All-Star Game is a fun game played in the middle of the season. It features many of the best players from around the league. The Colorado Avalanche (and before that, the Quebec Nordiques) have had players chosen for almost every All-Star Game since 1979. The Avalanche even hosted the 51st All-Star Game in 2001 at the Pepsi Center.

Retired Jersey Numbers
When a team retires a jersey number, it means no other player on that team will ever wear that number again. It's a huge honor for a player! The Colorado Avalanche have retired six jersey numbers. The Quebec Nordiques also retired four numbers, but those were put back into use when the team moved to Colorado. Also, no one in the NHL can wear number 99 because it was retired for the legendary player Wayne Gretzky.
