Exploring Kentucky's Roads and Highways

The Kentucky Parkway System

The Kentucky Parkway System is a network of special highways that were first built as toll roads. This means drivers used to pay a fee to use them. However, Kentucky law says that once the cost of building these roads is paid off, the tolls must be removed. Now, all parkways are free to use! These roads are built to very high standards, similar to interstate highways. They help people reach parts of Kentucky that don't have easy access to the main interstates. Some parkways have even been changed or are planned to be changed into interstate highways.
