Maher and Awakening Records used social media like Facebook and YouTube to share his music. They also used iTunes. By early 2010, his songs quickly became very popular. Many people in Arabic-speaking and Islamic countries loved his music. Young Muslims in Western countries also became big fans.
By the end of 2010, Maher Zain was the most searched celebrity in Malaysia on Google. Malaysia and Indonesia are two countries where his music has been very successful. His album Thank You Allah sold so well that it earned "multiple platinum" awards. This means it sold a huge number of copies! It was the best-selling album in Malaysia in 2010.
