Mario Mendell Winans (born August 29, 1974) is an American R&B singer, songwriter, and music producer from South Carolina. He is part of the famous Winans musical family. Mario Winans is best known for his hit song "I Don't Wanna Know" from 2004. This song featured Enya and P. Diddy and reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Before becoming famous as a singer, Winans worked as a producer for Dallas Austin's Rowdy Records in the early 1990s. He helped create music for artists like R. Kelly and Pebbles. Later, he signed with Motown and released his first album, Story of My Heart, in 1997.
In 1998, he started working with P. Diddy and became part of Diddy's production team, the Hitmen, at Bad Boy Records. He helped create many successful songs. He also gained attention for singing on Diddy's song "Best Friend" in 2000 and his own song "I Need a Girl (Part Two)" in 2002. Both songs were popular, and "I Need a Girl (Part Two)" reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100.
After this success, Mario Winans signed with Bad Boy Records as a solo artist. His album Hurt No More came out in 2004 and reached number two on the Billboard 200 album chart. The song "I Don't Wanna Know" was the main single from this album. In 2005, he helped write the song "Pray" for CeCe Winans, which won a Grammy Award for Best Gospel/Contemporary Christian Music Performance.
Besides singing, Mario Winans has also produced and written songs for many other popular artists. These include the Weeknd, Kanye West, the Notorious B.I.G., Ice Spice, Lil' Kim, Destiny's Child, Jennifer Lopez, and Busta Rhymes.

Music Career
Creating Hurt No More (2001–2005)
Mario Winans worked on his second album, Hurt No More, between 2001 and 2003. He recorded it while also working with other musicians. The songs on the album tell stories about love and feeling let down.
The first song released from the album was "I Don't Wanna Know". This song used a part of the Fugees' 1996 song "Ready or Not". The Fugees' song itself used a slowed-down part of an instrumental song called "Boadicea" by Enya. Enya and her team gave permission for Winans and P. Diddy to use her music. Enya even re-recorded her part for the song. "I Don't Wanna Know" also features a rap by P. Diddy.
The song "I Don't Wanna Know" was released in early 2004 and became a huge hit around the world. It reached number one in Germany and the United Kingdom. In the United States, it was number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and the R&B/Hip-Hop singles chart. It also reached the top ten in many other countries.
The album Hurt No More was released on April 20, 2004. By June 2004, it was number one on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and number two on the Billboard 200. It also reached number three on the UK Albums Chart.
The second song from the album, "Never Really Was", used a part of Madonna's 1986 song "Papa Don't Preach" as its background music. However, this song was not as popular in North America. A different version of the song was released with rapper Lil Flip.
The song "This Is the Thanks I Get" was planned to be the third and final song released from the album, but it was never officially put out as a single.
