Michael Jerome Reece-Page (born 7 April 1987), known as Michael "Venom" Page or MVP, is a professional mixed martial artist from England. He fights in the Welterweight and Middleweight divisions for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). As of November 2024, he was ranked #15 in the UFC welterweight division.

Michael Page is known in the MMA world for his unique fighting style. It comes from his background in freestyle kickboxing and sport karate. He has also competed professionally in kickboxing, boxing, and bare-knuckle boxing.

Early Life and Family

Michael Page was born in St Mary's Hospital, London. His parents, Curtis Page Sr. and Pauline Reece, were both skilled in Lau Gar kung fu. His father was from Trinidad, and his mother was from Jamaica. Michael's uncle, Stan Brown, was a Lau Gar Master and also taught his father.

Michael has nine siblings, and three of them are adopted. He went to Quintin Kynaston School. Growing up, almost everyone in his family was involved in martial arts. So, it felt natural for him to follow their path. He was also inspired by martial arts films starring actors like Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee.

Kickboxing Career Highlights

Michael's father, Curtis Page Sr., was his first instructor. Several of his siblings, including Sefena, Curtis Jr., Jamie, and Kalon, also became kickboxing champions.

Michael started training in Lau Gar when he was just three years old. He competed in his first kickboxing tournament at age five. By eight, he was serious about competing and entered his first international tournament in Germany.

He won ten world championships in kickboxing. His first world title was at the US Open ISKA World Martial Arts Championships in Florida in 1998, when he was 12. He also won over 25 British championships. By age 13, Michael started competing against adults. To prepare, he trained five hours a day, five days a week. During tournaments, he often fought many times in one day, sometimes up to 22 matches across different weight classes.

Some of his notable wins include:

  • A gold medal at the W.A.K.O. World Championships 2007 (Coimbra) in the −89 kg semi-contact division.
  • Gold medals at the W.A.K.O. Austrian Classics Worldcup in 2008 and 2009.
  • A gold medal at the WKA World Championships in 2009.

He also earned silver medals at the 2010 World Combat Games and various W.A.K.O. Irish Open and World Championships events. Michael was even asked to train with the Great Britain Taekwondo team for the Olympic Games. However, he chose to focus on a professional combat sports career instead.

When he is not competing, Michael teaches kickboxing at Hands Down Martial Arts Academies in Surrey.
