Moreland Hills is a village located in eastern Cuyahoga County, Ohio, in the United States. In 2020, about 3,466 people lived there. It is an eastern suburb of Cleveland and is part of the larger Cleveland metropolitan area.

History of Moreland Hills
Early Settlement and Growth
Settlement in the area began in 1815. This was near where State Route 87 crosses the Chagrin River. In 1820, Orange Township was formed. It became known for its steam sawmills, cheese factories, and farms.
The village was once part of Orange Township. It is famous as the birthplace of James A. Garfield. He later became the 20th President of the United States. In 1897, the Cleveland-Chagrin Falls Railway was built. This train line helped people travel to jobs in Cleveland. It also encouraged more homes to be built in the area.
Village Incorporation and Government
In the early 1900s, Orange Township was divided into five smaller areas. These included Moreland Hills, Hunting Valley, Orange Village, Pepper Pike, and Woodmere.
Moreland Hills officially became a village in 1929. It covered the southeast part of the original Orange Township. In 1972, Moreland Hills adopted its own village charter. This document set up its government, which includes a mayor and a council.
Historical Events and Landmarks
An important event for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) happened here. It was called the Orange Conference. This meeting took place on October 25–26, 1831. It was held at the home of Serenes Burnett. Key church leaders like Joseph Smith, Sidney Rigdon, and Oliver Cowdery attended.
Moreland Hills is also home to Hiram House. This is a state historical landmark. It was the second settlement house in the country. A settlement house helps people in need. Hiram House moved from Cleveland to its current spot in the 1940s. It is located at Harvard Road and State Route 91.

In 2010, the census showed 3,320 people living in Moreland Hills. There were 1,262 households and 1,009 families. The village had about 464 people per square mile (179 people per square kilometer).
Most residents, about 89.6%, were White. Other groups included 3.7% African American and 4.6% Asian. About 1.1% of the population was Hispanic or Latino.
About 32.7% of households had children under 18. Most households, 71.6%, were married couples living together. The average household had 2.63 people. The average family had 2.97 people.
The average age in the village was 49.1 years. About 24.2% of residents were under 18. About 18.6% were 65 years or older. The population was almost evenly split between males (49.3%) and females (50.7%).
