Key Actions as Secretary
As Secretary of the Treasury, Mnuchin focused on several areas:

- Support for President Trump: Mnuchin defended President Trump on various issues. When asked about Trump's tax returns, Mnuchin said Trump had no plans to release them. After a protest in Charlottesville, Virginia, Mnuchin said the president did not believe hate groups were equal to peaceful protesters.
Use of Government Aircraft
Mnuchin faced questions about using government planes for travel. For example, he took a trip to Kentucky that included viewing a solar eclipse. The Treasury Department looked into his use of these planes. Mnuchin said he needed access to secure communications for his job.
