Street Sharks is an American superhero cartoon show. It's all about four brothers who become half-human, half-shark crime fighters! The show was made by DIC Productions, L.P. and Bohbot Entertainment. It first aired from 1994 to 1997.

The Street Sharks cartoon was created to promote a line of cool action figures by Mattel. In 1996, the show even teamed up with another cartoon called Dino Vengers. For a while, the show was called Dino Vengers Featuring Street Sharks.

What's the Story?

The story begins with a smart university professor named Dr. Robert Bolton. He and his partner, Dr. Luther Paradigm, invent a special machine. This machine, called the "gene-slammer," can mix human and animal DNA.

Dr. Bolton wants to use the machine for good. But Dr. Paradigm has evil plans! When Dr. Bolton tries to stop him, he accidentally gets turned into a strange, unseen creature. He manages to escape.

Later, Dr. Paradigm uses the machine on Dr. Bolton's four sons: John, Bobby, Coop, and Clint. They are transformed into four different kinds of sharks! They become the "Street Sharks."

When Dr. Paradigm captures their friend Bends, the new Street Sharks jump into action. During the rescue, Dr. Paradigm himself gets mixed with piranha DNA. This is why other characters often call him "Dr. Piranoid."

In the episodes that follow, Dr. Paradigm creates many mutant animals. He wants them to destroy the Street Sharks. He also tries to convince everyone in their city, Fission City, that the Sharks are bad. But some of his mutant animals actually become friends with the Street Sharks! These include Rox, Moby Lick, Mantaman, and El Swordo.

In the last few episodes, a new team arrives: the Dino Vengers. They are dinosaur-like aliens who join forces with the Street Sharks. They fight against their own enemies, the Raptor Gang. Dr. Paradigm tries to get Raptor DNA to make himself stronger. But the Raptors trick him! They give him iguana DNA instead, turning him into "Dr. Iguanazoid." He then works with the Raptors, hoping they will fix his DNA. In the end, Dr. Paradigm is caught and put in jail. The Raptor Gang leaves Earth.

The Dino Vengers later got their own show called Extreme Dinosaurs.

  • Ripster (John Bolton) – He is the oldest and smartest of the brothers. Ripster loves to invent things, just like his dad. He is also a great pool player. When he changes, he becomes a powerful great white shark. He can bite through steel and has amazing extra senses.
  • Jab (Clint Bolton) – Jab is the most relaxed of the Street Sharks. He enjoys boxing and is good with machines. As a hammerhead shark, he can use his head like a powerful ram.
  • Streex (Robert "Bobby" Bolton Jr.) – Streex is cool and confident. He always wears his rollerblades. He also likes parachuting and snowboarding. When he transforms, he becomes a tiger shark, named for the purple stripes on his body.
  • Big Slammu (Coop Bolton) – He is the youngest and strongest of the four brothers. Big Slammu is a high school football player. As a whale shark, his special move is the "Seismic Slam." He can shake the ground with his powerful fists!
  • Dr. Robert Bolton – He is a university professor and the father of the Bolton brothers. He invented the gene-slamming machine. After being mutated, he is only seen as a shadow. He secretly helps his sons throughout the series.
  • Sir Thomas Bolton – An ancestor of the Bolton family. He appears in an episode where Dr. Paradigm tries to go back in time to stop the Bolton family from ever existing.
