The Uzbekistan national under-23 football team (also known as the "White Wolves") plays for Uzbekistan in international football games. This team is for players who are 23 years old or younger. The Uzbekistan Football Association manages the team, and they are part of the Asian Football Confederation, which covers football in Asia.

Major Competitions

The Uzbekistan U-23 team has played in several big tournaments. They have done very well in some of them, showing their strength in Asian football.

Olympic Games

The Olympic Games football tournament is a huge event. Uzbekistan's U-23 team made their first appearance in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. They played three matches in the group stage but did not advance to the next round. Before 2024, they had not qualified for the Olympics.

AFC U-23 Asian Cup

The AFC U-23 Asian Cup is a top competition for under-23 teams in Asia. Uzbekistan has a strong record in this tournament:

  • In 2018, they became champions, winning the gold medal. This was a big achievement for the team.
  • They were runners-up (second place) twice, in 2022 and 2024.
  • They also finished in fourth place in 2020.
  • The team has played in the group stage in 2013 and 2016.

Asian Games

The Asian Games is another important multi-sport event. Since 2002 Asian Games, the men's football teams in this competition are mostly made up of players under 23 years old. Each team can also have up to three older players. Uzbekistan's U-23 team has done well here:

  • They won a bronze medal (third place) at the 2022 Asian Games.
  • They reached the quarter-finals in 2006, 2010, and 2018.
  • They also made it to the Round of 16 in 2014.
