Asia
- In Syria, a big battle called the Battle of Shaizar took place. It was fought between the Crusaders and the Seljuk Turks. Neither side won, so it ended in a draw.

- On May 24, the town of Laus (now called Lodi Vecchio) was destroyed. This happened because troops from Milan attacked it.
- Baldwin VII became the new Count of Flanders. This meant he was the ruler of a powerful area in what is now Belgium and France.
- Henry V was crowned Holy Roman Emperor. This was a very important title, given to him by Pope Paschal II.
