Cartoon Network is a super popular TV channel in the Philippines. It's known for showing awesome animated shows and cartoons! It's run by Warner Bros. Discovery.

The channel you watch in the Philippines is a special version of Cartoon Network Asia. It started broadcasting on October 6, 1994, as part of the bigger Asian channel. Then, on September 1, 1995, it became its own channel just for the Philippines.

How Cartoon Network Philippines Started

The Early Years: 1994-1999

Cartoon Network Philippines began its journey on September 1, 1995. At first, it shared its airtime with another channel called TNT Asia. Cartoon Network aired from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

In the very beginning, it mostly showed classic cartoons from Hanna-Barbera. Think The Yogi Bear Show, Top Cat, and The Flintstones! Cartoon Network was the first cartoon channel on cable in the Philippines. Other channels like Disney Channel and Nickelodeon came later.

In 1996, the channel started showing cartoons from MGM. This brought us classics like Tom and Jerry and Droopy. After Time Warner bought Turner, Warner Bros. shows like Looney Tunes joined the fun in 1997. By 1998, Cartoon Network started making its own shows, called "Cartoon Network Originals."

The Powerhouse Era: 1999-2005

On August 22, 1999, Cartoon Network Asia got a cool new look called the "Powerhouse" theme. This era brought many of your favorite shows!

New shows like Dexter's Laboratory, Cow & Chicken, Ed, Edd n' Eddy, and Johnny Bravo started airing. The next year, The Powerpuff Girls and Courage the Cowardly Dog joined the lineup.

In 2001, more original shows arrived, including Samurai Jack. These original shows were called "Cartoon Cartoons" and often aired on Friday nights. Cartoon Network also became a 24-hour channel! They added special blocks like Toonami for action shows and Boomerang for older cartoons. In 2002, Codename: Kids Next Door and Justice League premiered. By 2005, the Boomerang block even became its own separate channel!

The City and New Wave Eras: 2005-2011

On October 1, 2005, Cartoon Network changed its look again. The channel started using cool 3D animations of a fictional "CN City," where all the cartoon characters lived together. The channel's logo also got an update.

In 2006, many new Cartoon Network original shows came out. These included Camp Lazlo, Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi, and My Gym Partner's a Monkey. The name "Cartoon Cartoons" for original shows was no longer used. Interestingly, even The Simpsons, a cartoon for adults, aired on Cartoon Network during this time, but with some edits to make it kid-friendly.

In 2008, the channel changed its look again, using the "New Wave" branding. Newer shows like Ben 10 and The Secret Saturdays became more popular, while some older shows aired less often.

The "It's a Fun Thing!" Era: 2011-2014

On October 1, 2011, Cartoon Network introduced a brand new look and logo. It featured a black and white checkerboard design and the catchy slogan "It's a Fun Thing!"

Around this time, a very popular animated series called Oggy and the Cockroaches joined the channel. It became one of the most-watched shows! Also, a special high-definition (HD) version of the channel was launched. This meant shows looked much clearer and sharper. By 2013, many shows, even older ones, started airing in HD.

New Looks and Slogans: 2014-2022

In November 2014, the slogan changed to "Are You CN What Where Sayin?" The channel continued to update its on-screen look with new designs in 2015 and 2016.

On March 18, 2017, Cartoon Network updated its branding again to "Dimensional." This made some of its promos and bumpers look similar to the Cartoon Network channel in the United States.

On April 4, 2019, the channel introduced the "Mashup" branding. This brought new blocks like "NEW in 5, 6, 7, and 8" which showed fresh new episodes every weekday evening. There was also a "Best Summer Day" block for the summer season.

Redraw Your World: 2022-Present

On January 8, 2022, Cartoon Network Asia and other channels, including the Philippines, rebranded to "Redraw your World." This new theme encourages creativity and imagination. They even launched a video series called "Craft Your World" with Crayola!

A special morning block called Cartoonito also relaunched on March 28, 2022. It shows cartoons for younger kids and aims to help them learn and grow.
