Ecuador is a country in South America that loves sports! They have sent their best athletes to compete in the Summer Olympic Games many times, starting in 1924. They have participated in 12 Summer Olympics so far.

Ecuador made its first appearance at the Winter Olympic Games more recently, in 2018.

The country's first Olympic medal was a gold! It was won by Jefferson Pérez in the men's 20 km walk at the 1996 Olympic Games. This was a huge moment for Ecuador. The Ecuadorian National Olympic Committee helps organize and support the athletes. It was formed in 1948 and officially recognized by the IOC (International Olympic Committee) in 1959.
