Gossliwil was once a small municipality (like a town or village) located in the Bucheggberg district of the canton of Solothurn, Switzerland. It was a quiet place with a small population.
On January 1, 2014, Gossliwil joined with several other nearby municipalities. These included Tscheppach, Brügglen, Aetingen, Aetigkofen, Bibern (SO), Hessigkofen, Mühledorf (SO), Küttigkofen, and Kyburg-Buchegg. Together, they formed a brand new, larger municipality called Buchegg.

History of Gossliwil
Gossliwil has a long history! It was first mentioned in official records way back in 1246. At that time, its name was written as Gosseriswile. Later, in 1276, it was called Goselwyl.
Where is Gossliwil Located?
Before it merged, Gossliwil covered an area of about 2 square kilometers (which is about 0.77 square miles).
- Farmland: A big part of Gossliwil, almost 60%, was used for farming. This means lots of fields for crops and pastures for animals.
- Forests: About 34% of the area was covered by thick forests.
- Buildings and Roads: The remaining land, about 7.7%, was where buildings and roads were located.
Gossliwil was situated in the Bucheggberg district. It sat on a flat area of land, known as a plateau, close to where the Biberenbach river begins.
What Does Gossliwil's Coat of Arms Look Like?
The blazon (a special description) of Gossliwil's municipal coat of arms is quite detailed. Imagine a red shield. On this shield, there's a golden bundle of grain (called a "garb"). This golden grain bundle seems to be growing out of three green hills at the bottom. Around the grain, there are three golden five-leafed flowers (called "cinquefoils"). One flower is above the grain, and two are below it.
