Grenada County is a county located in the U.S. state of Mississippi. In 2020, about 21,629 people lived there. The main city, or county seat, is Grenada.

The county got its name from Granada, a place in Spain. The western part of Grenada County is in the Mississippi Delta. Growing cotton was a very important part of its economy for many years. Grenada County is also part of a larger area called the Grenada Micropolitan Statistical Area.

In 2020, some of the biggest employers in Grenada County were Modine, Lennox, and the Grenada School District. Other large employers in the wider region include Winchester, Toyota Mississippi, and Franklin Corporation. Between 2011 and 2019, Grenada added 1,600 direct jobs.

In April 2021, Milwaukee Tool announced a big expansion. They are building a new factory in Grenada County. This project is a $60 million investment and will create 800 new jobs.

The Grenada Railroad also plays a huge role in the local economy. It supports over 11,000 jobs and brings in a lot of money for the area.

Grenada County's Infrastructure and Transportation

U.S. Senators Roger Wicker and Cindy Hyde-Smith announced a $6.22 million grant for Grenada Railroad. This money will help finish upgrading a rail line. The line runs between Canton, Mississippi, and Memphis, Tennessee.

Work on the northern 100 miles of the project is expected to finish in late 2023. Once completed, the entire 188-mile rail line will be able to handle heavy trains. It will also allow trains to travel up to 40 miles per hour. This makes it a Class III Short Line Railroad.
