Kron Stavik Gracie (born July 11, 1988) is a talented Brazilian and American mixed martial artist. He is also a skilled submission grappler and a teacher. He used to compete in the Featherweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Kron is part of the famous Gracie family, known for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. His father is Rickson Gracie, a highly respected BJJ master. His grandfather was Hélio Gracie, one of the people who helped create BJJ. Kron started training jiu-jitsu when he was very young. He won many big titles, like the IBJJF World champion twice. He also won the Pan-American champion four times. He earned his black belt at just 19 years old. By 2008, Kron had an amazing record of 51 wins in a row by submission in major tournaments. He later became the European champion in 2009. In 2011, he won a silver medal at the World Championship. In 2013, he became the ADCC Submission Fighting World Champion.

Early Life and Training

Kron Gracie was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He is the youngest son of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) master Rickson Gracie. Kron spent most of his life in Los Angeles. His father moved there in 1989.

He began learning BJJ from his father as a child. He won his first competition as a yellow belt when he was ten. Kron is the youngest of four children. His older brother, Rockson, passed away in 2000.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Journey

Early Wins and Achievements

When Kron was 16, he competed as a blue belt. He won the 2004 IBJJF American National Jiu-Jitsu Championship. After getting his purple belt, he won the 2005 Pan Championship. In 2006, Kron won both the IBJJF World Championship and the CBJJO World Jiu-Jitsu Cup.

He also won the 2006 NAGA Championship. The next year, as a brown belt, he became world champion for the second time. He also won the Pan American championship for the fourth time. He won double gold, meaning he won his division and the absolute (open class) division. At this point, Kron had an impressive record of 51 wins in a row by submission.

Black Belt and Major Titles

In 2008, at 19, Kron received his black belt from his father. In 2009, Kron won the European Championship. This was just a few days after his grandfather, Grandmaster Helio Gracie, passed away. He then won a silver medal at the 2009 Pan Championship.

At the 2009 Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC) grappling competition, Kron lost in the quarter-finals. Two years later, he won a bronze medal at the 2011 ADCC World event. Kron became known as "Ice Cream Kron" because he stayed very calm during his fights.

Becoming an ADCC World Champion

Kron won a silver medal at the 2011 World Jiu-Jitsu Championship. He submitted Leandro Lo but lost in the finals to Gilbert "Durinho" Burns. At the 2012 Pan Am, Kron won two bronze medals. He won one in his weight class and another in the open class. That same year, he became the World Jiu-Jitsu Expo Superfight champion.

In October 2012, Kron competed at Metamoris 1. He won by submitting Otávio Souza with an armbar. In June 2013, he won another Superfight at Metamoris 2. He defeated Japanese MMA star Shinya Aoki with a guillotine choke. In October 2013, Kron won his division at the ADCC World Championship in Beijing. He submitted all his opponents, including Garry Tonon and Otávio Souza.

Mixed Martial Arts Career

Starting in Japan

On February 24, 2014, Kron Gracie decided to start a career in MMA. He chose to compete at a lighter weight than his usual jiu-jitsu weight. He trained with the Scrap Pack in California. This group included fighters like Gilbert Melendez, Nick, and Nate Diaz.

Kron had his first MMA fight on December 23, 2014, in Japan. He won the fight quickly by armbar in the first round. He continued to fight in Japan for Rizin Fighting Federation. He won his next three fights by submission. These wins improved his professional MMA record to 4-0.

Competing in the UFC

In November 2018, Kron Gracie joined the UFC. In his first UFC fight on February 17, 2019, he faced Alex Caceres. Kron won the fight by submission with a rear-naked choke in the first round. This win earned him a "Performance of the Night" award.

On October 12, 2019, Kron fought Cub Swanson. He lost this fight by a decision from the judges. This fight earned him a "Fight of the Night" bonus award. Many people were surprised because Kron tried to strike with Swanson instead of using his strong grappling skills. His father, Rickson, and uncle, Relson Gracie, later said he should have used more grappling.

After a break of four years, Kron returned to the UFC on May 6, 2023. He fought Charles Jourdain at UFC 288. Kron lost this fight by a decision. UFC president Dana White and others criticized his performance.

Kron Gracie faced Bryce Mitchell on December 7, 2024, at UFC 310. He lost the fight by knockout in the third round. This was his first loss by stoppage in his MMA career. On June 6, 2025, it was reported that he was released by the UFC.

Personal Life

When Kron Gracie is not competing, he teaches jiu-jitsu. He used to teach at his school in Culver City, California. He also helped manage his father's jiu-jitsu association. In January 2021, Kron announced he was closing his academy in California. He moved to Montana to open a new BJJ school. This move was because of the COVID-19 rules in California. Kron has also shared with media that he believes in the flat Earth conspiracy theory.

In 2024, Kron Gracie released his first online Jiu-Jitsu teaching guide. It was called Fundamentals of Guard-Passing and received good reviews.
