Imagine special places in Canada where birds are safe! These are called Migratory Bird Sanctuaries. They are like protected homes for birds, especially those that travel long distances during migration. These sanctuaries are created under a law called the Migratory Birds Convention Act, 1994. The Canadian Wildlife Service helps manage these important areas.

Canada has a long history of protecting birds. The very first bird sanctuary in North America, Last Mountain Lake Bird Sanctuary, was set up way back in 1887! These sanctuaries help make sure birds have safe places to rest, feed, and raise their young.
