Imagine a time when art was mostly about showing things exactly as they looked. Then, in 1913, something big happened in New York City! It was called the Armory Show. This huge art exhibition changed everything for American art.

The Armory Show was officially known as the International Exhibition of Modern Art. It was put together by a group called the Association of American Painters and Sculptors. The show opened on February 17, 1913, at the 69th Regiment Armory in New York. It ran until March 15.

People in New York were used to seeing very realistic art. So, when they saw the new, exciting modern art at the Armory Show, they were amazed! This show had about 1300 artworks by 300 artists from both the United States and Europe. It helped American artists become more creative and find their own unique styles.

This article lists many of the artists who showed their work at this famous event. The list comes mostly from a special catalog made for the show's 50th anniversary in 1963.
