Luven (once known as Luvis) was a small town, or municipality, in Switzerland. It was located in the Surselva area of the Graubünden region.
On January 1, 2014, Luven joined with several other towns. These included Castrisch, Ilanz, Ladir, Pitasch, Riein, Ruschein, Schnaus, Sevgein, Duvin, Pigniu, Rueun, and Siat. Together, they formed a new, larger municipality called Ilanz/Glion.

A Look at Luven's History
Luven is a very old place. It was first written about in the year 765. Back then, it was known by the name Lobene.
Luven's Coat of Arms
A coat of arms is like a special symbol for a town or family. Luven's coat of arms is red. It shows a white Bible with black letters on it. These letters are Alpha and Omega, the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet. This symbol shows that the village changed to the Protestant Reformation. This was a big religious change in Europe.
Geography and Landscape
Before it merged, Luven covered an area of about 6.6 square kilometers (about 2.5 square miles).
A lot of Luven's land is used for farming, about 52%. Forests cover a large part too, about 41.9%. The rest of the land is used for buildings and roads (4.5%). A small part (1.7%) is natural areas like rivers or mountains.
Luven is located on the eastern side of a mountain called Piz Mundaun. Before 1943, Luven was known by its German name, Luvis.
People and Population
In 2011, Luven had a population of 199 people. A small number of these people (2.6% in 2008) were from other countries. Over ten years, the number of people living in Luven went down by about 9.7%.
Most people in Luven speak Romansh (59.6%), which is a special language spoken in parts of Switzerland. German is the second most common language (35.0%), and Albanian is third (3.8%).
In 2000, there were slightly more females (51.6%) than males (48.4%) in Luven. The population included:
