Northwest Georgia is a special part of the state of Georgia in the United States. It's a region that includes 12 different counties. In 2010, about 753,032 people lived here. This area is home to some of the southernmost parts of the Appalachian Mountains. These mountains are famous for their beautiful scenery.
Some of the counties in Northwest Georgia are close to the big city of Atlanta. These include Bartow, Floyd, Haralson, Paulding, and Polk Counties. Other counties are part of the Chattanooga, Tennessee metropolitan area. A metropolitan area is a large city and the smaller towns and cities around it. Most of this region is part of Georgia's 14th congressional district. This means the people living here are represented in the U.S. government by a person elected to Congress.
