The Cascades Amphitheater is a huge outdoor concert venue located in Ridgefield, Washington. It can hold up to 18,000 people! About 7,810 seats are covered, and another 10,000 people can sit on the lawn. It is the biggest outdoor amphitheater in the Portland metropolitan area. People go there to see concerts, stage shows, and other fun events, like the Clark County Fair. Building of the amphitheater started in 2002. Sustaita Architects designed the venue, and Hoffman Construction Company built it.
History of the Amphitheater
The amphitheater first opened in 2003. For several years, it lost money. However, on July 10, 2009, the band Coldplay became the first music act to sell out all the tickets for a show there.
Name Changes Over Time
The amphitheater has had several different names. When it first opened, it was called The Amphitheater at Clark County. In March 2010, it was renamed Sleep Country Amphitheater. This happened because a company called Sleep Country USA bought the rights to have the venue named after them.
After that contract ended, the venue was temporarily called Amphitheater Northwest in January 2015. Later that same year, in October, it found a new sponsor and was renamed Sunlight Supply Amphitheater. In August 2021, the name changed again to RV Inn Style Resorts Amphitheater. Finally, in January 2025, it became known as the Cascades Amphitheater.
