Siyar Bahadurzada (Persian: سییار باهادورزادا; born 17 April 1984) is a retired mixed martial artist. He was born in Kabul, Afghanistan, and later became a Dutch citizen. He is famous for being the first Afghan to compete in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
Siyar also held the title of Shooto Middleweight Champion. After retiring from fighting in 2020, he started working as an instructor for Evolve MMA in Singapore.

Siyar's Fighting Career
Siyar Bahadurzada began his professional fighting career in 2001. He trained with the Golden Glory team in the Netherlands.
Joining the UFC
In 2011, Siyar signed a contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). This was a big moment, as he was the first fighter from Afghanistan to join the UFC.
His first planned fight in the UFC was in January 2012 against Erick Silva. However, Siyar had to pull out of the fight because of an injury.
Key UFC Fights
Siyar's first UFC fight happened on 14 April 2012, against Paulo Thiago. Siyar won this fight by knockout (KO) in just 42 seconds! This amazing win earned him the Knockout of the Night award. He was the first person to ever knock out Thiago.
After this win, Siyar faced some challenges. He had to withdraw from a few fights due to injuries.
On 3 March 2013, Siyar fought Dong Hyun Kim. He lost this fight by a decision from the judges.
He then fought John Howard on 28 December 2013, and also lost by decision.
Returning to the Octagon
After more than two years away from fighting, Siyar returned to the UFC on 5 March 2016. He fought Brandon Thatch and won by submission in the third round. This was a great comeback!
In 2017, Siyar fought Rob Wilkinson on 2 September. He won this fight by TKO (Technical Knockout) in the second round.
On 21 April 2018, Siyar faced Luan Chagas. He won this fight by knockout in the second round, which earned him the Performance of the Night bonus award.
His last two fights in the UFC were losses by decision. He fought Curtis Millender on 29 December 2018, and Ismail Naurdiev on 28 September 2019.
In June 2020, Siyar Bahadurzada announced that he was retiring from mixed martial arts.
Coaching and Teaching
After his fighting career, Siyar started sharing his knowledge. On 13 January 2020, he became the new head coach for the Evolve MMA team in Singapore. He now teaches other fighters.
