Teerasil Dangda (born June 6, 1988) is a famous Thai professional footballer. He plays as a striker for the Thai League club BG Pathum United. He also plays for the Thailand national team.

Teerasil has played football in different countries. He has played in England, Switzerland, Spain, and Japan. He is one of Thailand's most well-known football players.

He is currently the third-highest goal scorer in the history of the Thai League 1. He has scored 143 goals. He is also the top Thai goal scorer in the league.

Club Football Journey

Starting Out

Teerasil began his football journey in 2003. He played youth football for Assumption College Thonburi when he was 15. In 2005, he joined Air Technical Training School. He played his first senior games there. He scored three goals in just six matches.

Playing for Rajpracha

In January 2006, Teerasil moved to Rajpracha. He quickly became an important player for the team. He was their top scorer with nine goals in 18 games. He also helped set up five other goals.

Joining Muangthong United

In January 2007, Teerasil joined Muangthong United. They were a second-division club at the time. He helped them win the 2007 Thailand League Division 2 title. He scored seven goals and made six assists that season.

Time with Manchester City

On July 25, 2007, Teerasil got a chance to try out for English Premier League club Manchester City. This happened after a Thai businessman bought the club.

Loan to Grasshopper

Teerasil faced problems getting a work permit to play in England. So, he was loaned to Grasshopper in Switzerland. He returned to Manchester City in 2008 but still could not play in England. He later said his time at City helped him become a better footballer. He played for Grasshopper's reserve team. He scored two goals in six matches for them.

Back to Rajpracha

After leaving Manchester City, Teerasil went back to Thailand. He rejoined Rajpracha on October 16, 2008. He scored six goals in just eight games. He helped the club finish in the middle of the league table.

Return to Muangthong United

In January 2009, Teerasil returned to Muangthong United. He made his Thailand Premier League debut on March 8, 2009. He scored seven goals in the 2009 season. He helped the club win the league title that year.

In the 2010 season, he scored seven goals again. Muangthong United won the championship for the second time in a row. In 2011, he became the club's top scorer with 13 goals.

In the 2012 season, Muangthong United had an amazing unbeaten run. Teerasil scored four goals in one match, an 8–1 win. He scored 24 goals that season, breaking a league record.

Training with La Liga Clubs

After his great season, Teerasil was invited to train with La Liga teams in Spain. He went to Atlético Madrid in January 2013. He said Spanish football was "very quick, strong and with great quality." He returned to Muangthong in February.

Teerasil continued to score many goals for Muangthong. He scored his first hat-trick (three goals in one game) on October 5, 2013. He finished the season with 16 league goals. He also played in the 2013 AFC Champions League.

He started the 2014 season well, scoring twice in the second game. He played his last match for Muangthong on July 2, 2014, before moving to Spain.

Loan to Almería

On February 21, 2014, Teerasil joined Spanish club Almería on a one-year loan. This made him the first player from Southeast Asia and Thailand to play in La Liga.

He made his debut in Spain's top league on August 23, 2014. He became the first Thai footballer to play in La Liga. On December 5, he scored his first goal for Almería in a cup match.

Third Time at Muangthong United

On January 20, 2015, Teerasil returned to his home club, Muangthong United. He quickly became a key player again. He helped them win the 2016 Thai League. On March 11, 2017, he scored his 100th goal for the club. He also broke the record for the most league goals scored by a Thai player.

Loan to Sanfrecce Hiroshima

Teerasil joined J1 League club Sanfrecce Hiroshima in Japan on loan on December 20, 2017. He made his official debut on February 24, 2018. He scored the winning goal for his club in that match. He scored 6 goals in 32 league games for the club. He returned to Muangthong United after his loan.

Joining Shimizu S-Pulse

In January 2020, Teerasil signed with Shimizu S-Pulse in Japan. He made his debut on February 22, scoring a goal in a 3–1 loss. He scored 3 goals in 24 league games for the club in the 2020 J1 League.

Moving to BG Pathum United

In December 2020, Teerasil returned to the Thai League 1. He signed with BG Pathum United. On his debut on February 6, 2021, he scored his first goal for the club. In his first season, he helped BG Pathum win the 2020–21 Thai League 1 title.

He also helped them win the Thailand Champions Cup two times in a row in 2021 and 2022. On June 14, 2024, Teerasil scored a winning goal in the last moments of the game. This secured the 2023–24 Thai League Cup for his club against his former team, Muangthong United.

Youth Teams

Teerasil played for Thailand's under-16 and under-17 teams in 2004. He was part of the team that played in the 2004 AFC U-17 Championship. In 2006, he played for the under-19 team. He scored a goal in their only win at the 2006 AFC Youth Championship.

In 2007, Teerasil played for the under-23 team. He won a Gold Medal at the Southeast Asian Games in December 2007. He scored the winning goal against Myanmar.

Senior National Team

In 2007, Teerasil was called up to the Thailand national team. He was the youngest player in the squad for the 2007 AFC Asian Cup. He played once in the tournament.

Teerasil also played in the 2008 AFF Championship. He scored four goals as Thailand finished second. He has been a regular player for the national team since October 2007. He scored in a FIFA World Cup Qualifying match against Macau.

In the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, he scored against Australia and Oman. He was the top scorer in the 2012 AFF Suzuki Cup. He scored a hat-trick against Myanmar in that tournament.

In 2015, he played for Thailand in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification. He scored twice against Chinese Taipei.

In 2021, Teerasil became the all-time top scorer for the AFF Championship. He broke the record with 19 goals after scoring against the Philippines.

Other Matches

Teerasil scored a penalty for Thailand against FC Barcelona in a friendly match in Bangkok in 2013.

Teerasil was born in Bangkok, Thailand. His younger sister, Taneekarn, is also a footballer. She plays as a striker for the Thailand women's national football team. His father was also a footballer.
