- June 28 – The Battle of Ager Sanguinis happened. A ruler named Ilghazi from Aleppo defeated a Crusader army. This army was from the Principality of Antioch.
- August 14 – The Battle of Hab took place. Baldwin II of Jerusalem led the Crusaders to victory. They defeated Ilghazi's army. This battle helped save the city of Antioch.

Technology
- A Chinese writer named Zhu Yu wrote a book. It was called Pingzhou Table Talks. In this book, he described something new. He wrote about using separate sections inside ships. These are called hull compartments. This was a very early idea for ship design.
- Zhu Yu's book was also the first to mention something else. It reported the use of a magnetic compass for guiding ships at sea. However, another Chinese writer, Shen Kuo, had described the magnetic compass itself earlier. That was in his book Dream Pool Essays in 1088.
