Denmark took part in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, United Kingdom. The Games happened from July 27 to August 12, 2012. Denmark sent its biggest team to the Olympics since the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.

A total of 113 Danish athletes competed in 17 different sports. There were 63 men and 50 women. Two other athletes were team reserves. Handball was the only team sport Denmark played in.

The Danish team included some past Olympic champions. One of them was the men's lightweight coxless fours rowing team. This team included experienced rowers Eskild Ebbesen and Morten Jørgensen. Famous athletes like tennis player Caroline Wozniacki and swimmer Lotte Friis were also part of the team. Lotte Friis had won a bronze medal in Beijing before. Kim Wraae Knudsen, who won a silver medal in sprint kayak doubles in Beijing, carried Denmark's flag at the opening ceremony.

The Danish sports organizations, Team Danmark and the Danish Sports' Union, aimed for eight medals. They thought Denmark had good chances in wrestling, shooting, cycling, handball, equestrian events, rowing, athletics, badminton, and sailing. Denmark did even better than their goal. They won nine medals in total!

Denmark came home from London with 9 medals: 2 gold, 4 silver, and 3 bronze. This was their most successful Olympics in 64 years. The gold medals were won by rowers Rasmus Quist and Mads Rasmussen in lightweight double sculls. The other gold medal went to track cyclist Lasse Norman Hansen in the men's omnium event. Other medals were won in sailing, shooting, badminton, and women's rowing. Some Danish athletes came very close to winning medals but just missed out.
