Ginny Tyler (born Merrie Virginia Erlandson) was an American voice actress and singer. She was born on August 8, 1925, and passed away on July 13, 2012. Ginny Tyler was famous for lending her voice to many cartoons and animated films from 1957 to 1993. In 2006, she was honored as a Disney Legend for her amazing work with Disney.

Ginny Tyler's Early Life

Ginny Tyler was born in Berkeley, California, United States, in 1925. She was the older of two children. Her family later moved to Seattle, Washington. After her parents divorced, her mother remarried. Ginny's stepfather adopted her, and her name became Merrie Virginia Eggers.

How She Started Her Career

Ginny grew up in Seattle. Her family loved telling stories and making animal sounds. This talent helped her a lot in her career. She first spoke on the radio in the 1930s. She co-hosted a radio show called Make Believe Island. Later, the show moved to TV and was renamed Magic Island. This happened in the early 1950s.

Ginny started working more as a voice artist. She voiced characters in many cartoons. She also narrated vinyl records of Disney movies. These included Bambi and Babes in Toyland.

Famous Voice Roles

Ginny Tyler voiced many memorable characters. In the movie The Sword in the Stone, she was a squirrel. This squirrel fell in love with young King Arthur when he was a squirrel. She also sang the voices of farm animals in the "Jolly Holiday" part of Mary Poppins.

From 1960 to 1962, she voiced characters for the show Davey and Goliath. She played Davey's mother and his sister Sally. She also had roles in Flintstones and The Adventures of Gulliver. Ginny was Jan on Space Ghost. She also voiced Sue Richards, the Invisible Woman, in the 1978 TV series Fantastic Four.

Ginny Tyler retired and moved back to Seattle. However, she still did some voice work for local shows. She passed away on July 13, 2012, at the age of 86.
