Main Characters
Let's meet the main players and their rivals!
The Hispanola Hurricanes
This is the good guy team, known for fair play and teamwork.
Amanda Carey: She is the 16-year-old owner of the Hurricanes. Amanda took over after her father disappeared. She helps manage the team and always believes in playing fair. Amanda has a Scottish Terrier dog named Dribble, who is one of the team's mascots.
Jock Stone: The wise and strict head coach of the Hurricanes. He is Scottish and loves football more than anything. Jock gets upset if the team is late for practice. He is based on a famous real-life football manager, Jock Stein.
Cal Casey: The team captain from the United States. Cal is often the one who helps solve problems outside of football. He also steps in when the Gorgons are causing trouble.
Plato Quiñones: A kind Brazilian player who believes in superstitions. He loves animals and is often seen playing barefoot, which is not allowed in real professional games! Plato has a pet monkey named Topper, who is another team mascot.
Napper Thompson: An English player who enjoys poetry and sci-fi stories. He often finds himself in strange situations. Napper is usually seen hanging out with Cal.
Helmut and Jorg Beethoven: These German twin brothers are the team's strikers. They are both confident players but often argue with each other. Helmut is taller and drives the team bus. Jorg is shorter, stronger, and wears a special headband.
"Stats" Hiro: The team's right-midfielder from Japan. He is the smallest player but very quick and smart. Stats is good with machines and even created a flying camera called the Flying Eye.
Dino Allegro: The Italian goalie for the team. Dino keeps a picture of his brother as a lucky charm. He looks at it before every match. Dino is also afraid of space and flying in a space shuttle.
Oliver "Rude" Marley: A Jamaican player known for his "rude" attitude, which is how he got his nickname. He worked hard to get his high school certificate later in life.
Georgie Wright: An English player who always calls the coin toss at the start of a match. He cannot swim and is afraid of large bodies of water.
Papillon: A talented French striker with a single name, like the famous footballer Pelé. He is charming and loves driving fast cars and racing.
Toro Contrais: A strong Spanish centre-back. He can be a bit overconfident on the field. Toro is surprisingly afraid of cats! When he was suspended, he became a pro-wrestler called "The Masked Matador."
Andy Stone: Jock Stone's son and the team's doctor. He invented a special cold-compress to help injured players.
The Garkos Gorgons
The Gorgons are the rival team. They are known for playing dirty and using unfair tricks. Their secret base is inside a volcano on the Island of Garkos.
Stavros Garkos: The main bad guy of the show. He owns the Garkos Gorgons. His team uses dirty tricks to beat the Hurricanes and help Garkos with his other sneaky plans. He owns many companies and often uses the name Medusa for them. When he gets angry, he breaks his special Medusa-head staff. Garkos always tries to make money or ruin the Hurricanes' reputation.
Wyn Smithe and Genghis Khan: These are the Gorgons' two best players and Stavros Garkos's main helpers. They are almost always together. Even though Garkos likes them, they are not very loyal to him.
Rebo: Rebo often helps Stavros Garkos with his dirty tricks. In one episode, he stole Dino Allegro's lucky charm to make him play badly.
Benny the Viking: A Swedish footballer who used to be hated for his dirty play. Stavros Garkos tried to make him popular, but Benny learned the value of good sportsmanship from Cal Casey.
Lobo: A Spanish football player who was Toro's rival for a special award. Garkos once kidnapped Toro's sister to distract him and help Lobo win.
The Garkos Family
Stavros Garkos sometimes gets help from his family members for his schemes.
Spiro Garkos: Stavros's brother. Spiro always wears a uniform and seems to be in charge of many things. He has been the coach of the Gorgons' youth team, a police chief, and even an admiral!
Melinda Garkos: Stavros's sister. Melinda helps her brother with his plans, no matter how mean they are. She has stolen ancient treasures and helped the Gorgons cheat.
Garkos Enterprises
Stavros Garkos owns many companies around the world. He uses these companies to help with his plans. For example, he built a scary theme park called Gorgon World in Los Angeles. He also tried to start his own television network called Medusa Network to show sports events.
