LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE is a huge French company that owns many famous luxury brands. It is based in Paris, France. The company was created in 1987 when a fashion house called Louis Vuitton joined with Moët Hennessy. Moët Hennessy itself was formed earlier by a champagne maker (Moët & Chandon) and a cognac producer (Hennessy).

Some of these well-known brands include Christian Dior Couture, Givenchy, Fendi, Tiffany, Bulgari, and Sephora. These smaller companies often work on their own, but they are part of LVMH's six main groups: Fashion, Wines and Spirits, Perfumes and Cosmetics, Watches and Jewelry, Special Stores, and Other Activities. How LVMH Started and Grew
LVMH was formed in 1987 when Moët Hennessy and Louis Vuitton merged. The leaders of these companies, Alain Chevalier and Henry Racamier, had different ideas for the new company. Bernard Arnault then invested in LVMH and quickly took control.
Over the years, LVMH has bought many other well-known brands. For example, it acquired the Italian jewelry company Bulgari in 2011. In 2014, LVMH also partnered with the Italian fashion brand Marco De Vincenzo.
In 2017, LVMH took full ownership of Christian Dior's fashion lines, bringing the entire Dior brand under its control. The company continued to grow, reporting record sales in 2017.
In 2019, LVMH launched a new fashion house called Fenty with singer Rihanna. This was the first new fashion house LVMH had started in 32 years, and Rihanna was the first woman of color to lead a brand under LVMH. The company also bought a majority share in Château d'Esclans, known for its Whispering Angel rosé wine.
LVMH also planned to buy Tiffany & Co. for about $16.2 billion in 2019. There were some disagreements about the deal during the COVID-19 pandemic, but they eventually agreed to a slightly lower price. The purchase of Tiffany was completed in January 2021. By 2021, LVMH became the most valuable company in Europe.
In 2022, LVMH bought a small part of the New York fashion label Aimé Leon Dore. In March 2022, LVMH closed its more than 120 stores in Russia due to global events, but it continued to pay its employees there. In November 2022, LVMH acquired the jewelry maker Pedemonte Group.
By April 2023, LVMH became the first European company to be worth over $500 billion. In November 2023, LVMH bought the eyewear brand Barton Perreira. In June 2024, LVMH acquired Swiza, which owns L'Epée 1839, a Swiss company known for making fancy clocks.
How LVMH is Organized
LVMH's main office is in Paris, France. The company uses special technology called blockchain to prove that its luxury goods are real. This helps to stop fake products from being sold.
