Lake Manchester is a special place in Queensland, Australia. It's both a lake and the area around it. This area is split between two local government regions: the City of Brisbane and the Somerset Region. Lake Manchester is about 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) west of Brisbane's city center. In 2021, only 17 people lived here, making it a very quiet spot!

Exploring Lake Manchester's Landscape
The area around Lake Manchester is mostly wild and mountainous. It's part of the D'Aguilar Range, a chain of mountains. The northern part of Lake Manchester is inside the beautiful D'Aguilar National Park. Most of the southern parts are covered by the Brisbane State Forest.
The western side of Lake Manchester, which is in the Somerset Region, is mostly rural land. Here, you'll often see cattle grazing. They eat the natural plants that grow there.
The History Behind the Name
The lake and the area are named after a very important person. His name was Ernest James Theodore Manchester. He was a civil engineer. From 1909 to 1928, he led the Metropolitan Water and Sewerage Board. This board was in charge of Brisbane's water and sewage systems.
The lake itself was created by building the Lake Manchester Dam. This dam was built between 1912 and 1916. It helped provide water for the city.

In 2016, a total of 23 people lived in Lake Manchester. By 2021, the population had slightly decreased. The latest count in 2021 showed that 17 people called Lake Manchester home.
