Exploring Florida's Tallest Places

Florida's highest points are found in different parts of the state. Most of the natural high spots are in northern Florida. This area is known as the Northern Florida Highlands. You can find many of these hills in Holmes, Walton, and Washington counties.

In central and southern Florida (the "peninsula" part), the tallest points are on two main ridges. The Lake Wales Ridge runs down the middle of the state. The Brooksville Ridge is found along the northwest coast of the peninsula.

Some of the "highest points" on this list are not natural hills. They are actually places made by people, like landfills. These are called "artificial" points.
