Power Rangers in Space is an exciting television series. It is the sixth season of the famous Power Rangers show. This season is based on the Japanese Super Sentai series called Denji Sentai Megaranger.
Power Rangers in Space was a big change for the Power Rangers. It wrapped up many stories from the previous six seasons. It also stopped the tradition of actors staying on the show for many years. This series marked the final regular appearances for some main actors. It also concluded the long story of Zordon, who had been important since 1993.
Story of Power Rangers in Space
The story starts right after Power Rangers Turbo ended. A supervillain named Dark Specter has captured Zordon. He is slowly draining Zordon's powers. Many old and new villains are celebrating Dark Specter's victory. But the Red Space Ranger, Andros, finds out about his evil plan. Dark Specter orders the Princess of Evil, Astronema, to stop Andros.
Meanwhile, four former Turbo Rangers are traveling in space. They are T.J. Johnson, Carlos Vallerte, Ashley Hammond, and Cassie Chan. They are with Alpha 6, a helpful robot. Their goal is to save Zordon. They are pulled aboard a spaceship called the Astro Megaship. There, they meet Andros. At first, Andros doesn't trust them. But he soon realizes he needs their help to save Zordon. He gives them special devices called Astro Morphers. These turn them into the new Space Rangers. Their shuttle and the Astro Megaship can also combine. They form the powerful Astro Megazord. The new team then heads back to Earth for repairs. But Astronema follows them.
The Space Rangers search for Zordon and protect Earth. Astronema tries to defeat them from her Dark Fortress. She uses her guardian, Ecliptor, and many monsters. Elgar also joins her team. But he is mostly a clumsy, funny villain. Over time, the Rangers get help from allies. These include the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the Phantom Ranger, Justin Stewart, and Adam Park. Zhane, the Silver Space Ranger, also wakes up from a long sleep. He joins the team. The Rangers also get new giant robots called Zords. Meanwhile, Bulk and Skull become helpers for a funny scientist. He is Professor Phenomenus. They join him in looking for aliens.
Andros is determined to find Zordon. But he also has another important mission. He wants to find his sister, Karone. She was kidnapped when they were children. Andros learns that Darkonda, a tricky bounty hunter, kidnapped his sister. Darkonda is also Ecliptor's enemy. Andros is shocked to find out that Karone is actually Astronema. Ecliptor raised her to be evil. Andros convinces Astronema of the truth. She decides to join the good side with Ecliptor's help. But sadly, she and Ecliptor are quickly captured again. They are brainwashed to follow Dark Specter.
Astronema becomes even more evil after being brainwashed. She wants to destroy the Space Rangers and even Dark Specter. To do this, she creates the Psycho Rangers. These five robotic villains are very powerful. Their power secretly comes from Dark Specter. Every time they fight, Dark Specter loses power and gets weaker. Each Psycho Ranger is too strong for their matching Space Ranger alone. But the Psycho Rangers are not good at working together. The six Space Rangers use teamwork to defeat them. After this, the Rangers lose two of their Megazords. These are the Delta Megazord and the Mega Voyager.
The story ends in a two-part finale called "Countdown to Destruction." Zordon is almost completely drained of his powers. Dark Specter orders all villains to attack the entire universe. Across space, other heroes are defeated and captured. These include the Alien, Gold Zeo, and Phantom Rangers. The Blue Senturion and rebels from KO-35 are also captured. The Space Rangers try to defend Earth. But they are overwhelmed and have to retreat. Even Zhane and his Zord, the Mega Winger, are defeated. The Mega Winger is destroyed. Darkonda, who is very sneaky, kills Dark Specter. Dark Specter also kills Darkonda before he dies. This leaves Astronema in charge as the Queen of Evil. Andros goes to the Dark Fortress to talk to his sister. The other five Space Rangers fight one last battle for Earth. The citizens of Angel Grove join them, led by Bulk and Skull.
On the Dark Fortress, Andros finds Zordon. Zordon asks Andros to break his energy tube. Doing this will release good energy. This energy will destroy all evil forces and save the universe. But it will also kill Zordon. After fighting Astronema and Ecliptor, Andros has no choice. He shatters the tube. The energy wave turns many monsters to dust, including Ecliptor. Lord Zedd, Rita Repulsa, Divatox, and Astronema turn into normal, non-evil humans. The universe is now safe. T.J., Cassie, Carlos, Ashley, and Alpha 6 plan to live on Earth. Andros, Zhane, and Karone also decide to join their friends on Earth.
Production Details
Power Rangers in Space was the last season to feature the character Skull. Jason Narvy, the actor who played Skull, chose to leave the show. He wanted to continue his college education.

The Red Space Ranger and leader. He is from the planet KO-35. He uses his powers to fight Astronema and find his sister. He also likes Ashley. He pilots the Mega V1 Robo Zord. His main weapon is the Spiral Saber. He is played by Christopher Khayman Lee.

In 2018, the Space Rangers were part of "Shattered Grid." This was a big crossover event with Rangers from all different shows. It celebrated 25 years of Power Rangers.
Another comic story, "Beyond the Grid," followed "Shattered Grid." In this story, Andros joined a new team of Rangers.
In 2019, a comic called Saban's Power Rangers: The Psycho Path was released. It tells more about the Psycho Rangers after the TV series ended.
In 2022, Andros and Zhane appeared in a Power Rangers comic story. This story happened before the events of the Power Rangers in Space TV series.
