Matteo started skating with Nicole Della Monica in late 2011. They trained mostly in Zanica. Their first international competition was the 2012 Bavarian Open, where they won a bronze medal. They finished fifteenth at the 2012 World Championships.

In the 2012–13 season, they placed ninth at the European Championships. They also finished fourteenth at the World Championships. This helped Italy get two spots for the 2014 Olympic pairs event. They also won bronze at the 2013 Winter Universiade.

For the 2013–14 season, they earned a silver medal at the Italian Championships. They then placed eighth at the European Championships. Della Monica and Guarise were chosen to represent Italy at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Matteo had a knee injury just before the Olympics, but they still competed, finishing sixteenth.

The 2017–18 season was very successful for them. They won silver medals at the Lombardia Trophy and Finlandia Trophy. They also won their first Grand Prix medal, a bronze, at the 2017 Internationaux de France. They won their third straight national title. At their second Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, they placed tenth. They finished fifth at the 2018 World Championships in Milan.

In the 2018–19 season, they won silver medals at the 2018 Grand Prix of Helsinki and the 2018 Rostelecom Cup. This made them the first Italian pair team to qualify for the Grand Prix Final, where they finished fifth. They won their fourth national title. At the 2019 European Championships, they placed fourth. At the 2019 World Championships, they finished eighth.

The 2019–20 season was challenging due to an injury to Nicole's shoulder. They still won the Italian title again and placed fourth at the 2020 European Championships. The World Championships were canceled due to the pandemic.

In the 2020–21 season, they placed eighth at the 2021 World Championships. They also competed at the 2021 World Team Trophy, where Team Italy finished fourth.

For the 2021–22 season, they won gold at the Lombardia Trophy. They also won the Italian championships again. They competed at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. In the team event, they placed seventh. In the pairs event, they finished thirteenth. After the Olympics, Nicole Della Monica decided to retire from skating.

Beccari and Guarise made their international debut at the 2022 CS Warsaw Cup, finishing fourth. They won a bronze medal at their first Italian championships together. They placed seventh at the 2023 European Championships.

The 2023–24 season was a breakthrough for the new pair. They won a silver medal at the 2023 CS Nebelhorn Trophy, their first international podium. They then made their Grand Prix debut at the 2023 Skate Canada International, winning a bronze medal. They also earned a silver medal at the 2023 NHK Trophy.

After winning the silver medal at the Italian championships, Beccari and Guarise competed at the 2024 European Figure Skating Championships in Kaunas. They won the gold medal, becoming European champions! They finished ninth at the 2024 World Championships in Montreal.

For the 2024–25 season, they won silver at the 2024 Shanghai Trophy. However, Lucrezia sustained a foot injury, which caused them to miss the rest of the season.
