The Fox Noggin Channel is a cable television channel in the United States. It was created to help children learn and grow. This channel often shows popular characters from Nick Jr. It is one of Nickelodeon's sister channels, focusing mainly on shows for younger children.
From April 1, 2002 to December 31, 2007, the channel only aired during certain hours. It would broadcast from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM EST. During the other hours, a channel called Fox Noggin at Nite would take over. This sharing of broadcast time still happens on Dish Network.
On December 31, 2007, Fox Noggin's sister channel, Nickelodeon GAS, stopped being available on satellite and digital cable. It moved to an online-only platform called TurboNick. After this, Fox Noggin at Nite took over Nick GAS's old channel spot.
The shows on Fox Noggin Channel are mostly recent programs from Nick Jr., Fox Kids, and original Fox Noggin shows.

How Fox Noggin Channel Started
The Fox Noggin Channel began as a joint project. It was a partnership between Viacom's Nickelodeon, News Corporation, and the Children's Television Workshop (which is now called Sesame Workshop). However, in 2002, Nickelodeon bought Sesame Workshop's share of the channel.
The very first show aired on Fox Noggin Channel was The Simpsons episode "Bart's Dog Gets an F" at 7 AM ET. For a few years, from 1999 to 2004, they also showed religious programs like Davey and Goliath. From 2000 to 2002, The Late Show aired late at night. Until 2007, the channel also showed live-action programs, including short films, TV shows, and movies. These types of shows now air on other channels.
When it first started, Fox Noggin Channel was a special channel you had to pay extra for. It broadcast for 16 hours a day, from 7 AM to 11 PM ET/PT. In its first year, over 532,000 homes in the U.S. subscribed to it. In March 2000, the channel added two more hours to its late-night schedule, broadcasting for 18 hours a day (7 AM to 1 AM ET/PT). By March 30, 2001, Fox Noggin Channel began broadcasting 24 hours a day.
From 1999 to 2002, Fox Noggin Channel was aimed at preteens. But because not enough people were watching, the channel changed its focus in 2002. It then started aiming its shows at preschoolers. The name "Noggin" comes from a slang word for "brain." This reflected its original goal of being an educational channel. Until the Fall of 2003, the channel showed old episodes of Sesame Street and other classic shows from Sesame Workshop. These included 3-2-1 Contact, Square One TV, Cro, and The Electric Company. As of September 2, 2007, Fox Noggin no longer airs any shows made by Sesame Workshop.
Besides classic Nickelodeon shows like Blue's Clues and Dora the Explorer, Fox Noggin also aired its own original shows. Examples include Oobi and Jack's Big Music Show. The channel also showed many preschool shows from other English-speaking countries that might not have been seen on American TV otherwise. Some examples were Franklin from Canada and Tweenies, Connie the Cow, Tiny Planets, and 64 Zoo Lane from the UK. However, starting in 2006, the channel began to show fewer of these international programs.
Fox Noggin Channel doesn't usually show regular commercials. However, it has aired ads and promotions for products like Kellogg's Mud N' Bugs Cereal and Butterfinger. It also showed ads for Lego toys and music videos related to movies like Curious George. Sometimes, it would promote shows airing on other channels within the Nickelodeon family. The channel likely earns money from fees paid by cable TV providers.
The network also became a place for music videos by pop musicians and children's performers like Laurie Berkner, Lisa Loeb, and Dan Zanes. These videos first appeared as short fillers between shows that didn't have commercials. Because they were so popular, they later became part of music video shows like Move to the Music.

Fox Noggin Channel UK was a special block of children's television shows. It aired on the Viva channel from 6 AM to 8 AM every day. It officially launched in its most recent form on January 30, 2006. This was the first commercial children's TV channel to be available on the UK's DTT platform, Freeview. Other channels like CITV and Playhouse Disney followed later.
Before it launched on TMF, Fox Noggin UK was part of Nick Jr. It aired between 8 PM and 10 PM and focused on classic animated children's shows from the late 1960s to the early 1990s, as well as Disney programs. This block was later replaced in 2006 by Nick Jr. Classics. The UK channel was based on the USA's Fox Noggin Channel, which started broadcasting in 1999.
On September 25, 2006, Fox Noggin was replaced by a new block called Nick Jr on TMF. It was very similar to Fox Noggin, just with a new name. This block changed back to the Fox Noggin name in March 2009.
Some of the shows that aired on Fox Noggin UK included:
- Dora the Explorer

- Maggie and the Ferocious Beast

Channel Look and Logos
From 1999 to 2005, Fox Noggin's logo was a square with the letters "F," "N," and "C" inside it, with the channel's name written below. When the network split in 2005, a new logo was introduced. This new logo featured the 1996 Fox logo, the word "NOGGIN," and the word "CHANNEL" in a green box.
