Patrik Schick (born on January 24, 1996) is a talented Czech footballer. He plays as a striker for Bayer Leverkusen in Germany. He also plays for the Czech Republic national team.
Patrik was born in Prague, Czech Republic. He started his football journey at a young age with Sparta Prague. He then moved to Italy to play for Sampdoria and Roma. Later, he joined RB Leipzig in Germany on loan. In 2020, he made a permanent move to Bayer Leverkusen.
With Bayer Leverkusen, Patrik achieved amazing success in 2024. His team won both the Bundesliga (the top German league) and the DFB-Pokal (German Cup). This was a historic "double" win for the club.
Patrik has also played for the Czech Republic at many youth levels. He made his debut for the senior national team in 2016. He helped his country reach the quarter-finals of the European Championship in 2021. During that tournament, he won the "Goal of the Tournament" award and was one of the top goal scorers.

Club Career Highlights
Patrik Schick's journey in football began in his home city of Prague. He joined Sparta Prague when he was just 11 years old.
Starting at Sparta Prague
Patrik played his first professional game for Sparta Prague on May 3, 2014. Sparta Prague won the league and cup that year. However, Patrik didn't play much. So, for the 2015–16 season, he went on loan to Bohemians 1905. He scored 8 goals in 27 games for them. After returning to Sparta, he decided to look for new opportunities.
Moving to Italy: Sampdoria
In June 2016, Patrik moved to Italy and signed with Serie A club Sampdoria. He had a great first season, scoring 11 goals in 32 league matches. He quickly became known for his scoring ability.
In 2017, Juventus tried to sign him for a large fee. However, the deal didn't go through after Patrik failed some medical tests.
Time at Roma
On August 29, 2017, Patrik joined Roma. He was seen as a very promising player. During his time at Roma, he often played on the wing or as a lone striker. He scored 8 goals in 58 games for the club.
Loan to RB Leipzig
In September 2019, Patrik moved to Germany to join Bundesliga club RB Leipzig on a loan deal. He started to find his scoring form again there. He scored 10 goals in 28 games for Leipzig. The club finished third in the Bundesliga and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Success with Bayer Leverkusen
First Season: 2020–21
On September 8, 2020, Patrik joined Bayer Leverkusen permanently. He signed a five-year contract. He scored his first goal in a UEFA competition in November 2020. He finished his first season with 9 goals in 29 league games.
Record-Breaking Season: 2021–22
The 2021–22 season was amazing for Patrik. On October 4, 2021, he scored two goals and assisted another in a 4-0 win. On December 4, 2021, he scored four goals in one game against Greuther Fürth. This was the most goals scored by a single player in Leverkusen's history! He also scored two goals in each of the next two games. Because of his incredible performance, he won the Bundesliga Player of the Month award for December 2021. He ended the season as the league's second-highest scorer with 24 goals in 27 matches. He was also named Leverkusen's Player of the Season.
Injury Challenges: 2022–23
The 2022–23 season was tough for Patrik due to injuries. He scored his first goal of the season in September 2022. However, he suffered an adductor injury that kept him out for many months. He missed a total of 34 matches that season.
Comeback and Historic Wins: 2023–24
Patrik made a strong comeback in November 2023, scoring a goal in the Europa League. In March 2024, he scored three crucial goals in the Europa League. These goals helped Bayer Leverkusen stay in the competition. He scored two stoppage-time goals in one game to secure a 3-2 victory!
On March 30, he scored a last-minute winning goal against Hoffenheim. This win secured Leverkusen's spot in the 2024–25 UEFA Champions League for the next season. Patrik was a key part of Leverkusen's historic unbeaten Bundesliga season. They became the first team ever to finish a Bundesliga season without losing a single game! He also helped his team win the German Cup, completing a special "double" trophy-winning season.
Defending Champions: 2024–25
At the start of the 2024–25 season, Patrik helped Leverkusen win their first ever Supercup. He scored a late equalizer and then in the penalty shootout. On November 23, he scored a hat-trick against Heidenheim. A few days later, he scored his first UEFA Champions League goal.
On November 30, in his 100th league game, he scored in a 2-1 win. On December 21, he scored four goals in a 5-1 win against Freiburg. This made him the top Czech goal scorer in the Bundesliga's history, passing Jan Koller's record. He ended the 2024–25 season as Leverkusen's top goal scorer with 27 goals. He was also second in the Bundesliga's top goal scorer list with 21 goals.
International Career

Patrik Schick was first called up to the Czech Republic senior team in May 2016. He made his debut in a friendly match against Malta on May 27, 2016. He even scored a goal in that 6-0 victory!
UEFA Euro 2020
Patrik was a big star at the UEFA Euro 2020 tournament (played in 2021 due to delays).
- On June 14, 2021, he scored both goals in a 2-0 win against Scotland. One of these goals was an amazing shot from almost the halfway line! It was the longest goal ever recorded at the Euros since 1980. This goal was later voted the "Goal of the Tournament."
- He scored from a penalty against Croatia on June 18, helping his team get a 1-1 draw.
- On June 27, he scored his fourth goal of the tournament against the Netherlands.
- On July 3, he scored his fifth goal in the quarter-finals against Denmark. This tied the record for most goals by a Czech player in a European Championship.
Patrik was the joint top scorer of the tournament with five goals, along with Cristiano Ronaldo.
Recent International Matches
In the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers, Patrik scored against Belarus. He also helped his teammate Hlozek score his first national team goal.
On June 10, 2024, he scored from a penalty in a friendly match against North Macedonia. In the Euro 2024 tournament, he scored the equalizer against Georgia in a 1-1 draw.
In the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Patrik has continued to score important goals. On March 22, 2025, he scored both goals in a 2-1 win against the Faroe Islands. On March 25, he scored again against Gibraltar in a 4-0 victory. By June 6, 2025, he had scored 4 goals in the qualifiers, making him the top scorer at that point.

Patrik Schick is mainly a striker who plays in the middle of the field. He is known for his great eye for goal and his strong left-footed shots. He is also good at heading the ball.
He can also play as a second striker or on the right wing. Patrik is strong and can hold the ball well. He is also quick, graceful, and good at dribbling. He can pass the ball quickly and help create attacking plays, providing assists for his teammates.

Personal Life
Patrik Schick has an older sister named Kristýna Schicková, who is a model. When he was younger, Patrik thought about becoming a model himself. However, he chose to focus on football. His football hero growing up was Manchester United player Wayne Rooney.
In July 2020, Patrik married his girlfriend, Hana Běhounková. They have two children, a daughter named Victoria (born in October 2020) and a son named Nico (born in October 2021).
