After that, at age 20, he moved to Sampdoria in Italy. In 2017, he joined Roma. After three years in Italy, Patrik moved to Germany in 2019. Patrik Schick's Football Journey
Starting at Sparta Prague
Patrik Schick was born in Prague and joined Sparta Prague when he was 11 years old. He played his first top-level game for Sparta on May 3, 2014. Sparta won two trophies that season, but Patrik only played a few games.
For the 2015–16 season, he went on loan to Bohemians 1905. He scored 8 goals in 27 games for them. When he returned to Sparta, he was expected to play more, but another player, David Lafata, was chosen instead. Patrik's agent turned down a new contract offer from Sparta.
Moving to Italy: Sampdoria and Roma
In June 2016, Patrik signed with the Italian club Sampdoria for about €4 million. In his first season in Italy, he played in 32 league matches and scored 11 goals for Sampdoria. He was very good at scoring, getting a goal about every 137 minutes he played.
In May 2017, Patrik decided not to extend his contract, hoping to move to a bigger club. Juventus tried to sign him for €30 million, but Patrik failed two medical tests, so the deal didn't happen.
On August 29, 2017, Patrik joined Roma. He was on loan at first, and then Roma had an option to buy him permanently. Roma's sports director, Monchi, said Patrik was "one of the brightest prospects in international football." During his time at Roma, Patrik often played on the right side of the attack or as a single forward. He scored 8 goals in 58 games for the club.
Loan to RB Leipzig (2019–20)
On September 2, 2019, Patrik moved to the German club RB Leipzig on a loan deal for one season. He scored his first goal for Leipzig on November 11, 2019. He then scored three goals in four league games, including a goal that helped Leipzig draw 3–3 with Borussia Dortmund. Patrik played well with Timo Werner and scored 10 goals in 28 games for Leipzig. The club finished third in the Bundesliga and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Success at Bayer Leverkusen
First Season (2020–21)
On September 8, 2020, Patrik joined Bayer Leverkusen on a five-year contract. He got the number 14 jersey.
He scored his first goal in a UEFA competition on November 26, 2020, in a 4–1 win against Hapoel Be'er Sheva in the Europa League. He was the main forward for Leverkusen during the 2020–21 season and scored nine goals in 29 league games.
Record-Breaking Season (2021–22)

On December 4, 2021, Patrik scored four goals and made an assist in a huge 7–1 win against Greuther Fürth. This was the most goals scored by one player in a single game in Leverkusen's history! He continued his amazing form, scoring two goals in each of the next two matches. Because of his great performance, he won the Bundesliga Player of the Month award. In the first half of the season, Patrik scored 16 goals in 14 games, even though he missed some games due to injury. He was the second-highest goalscorer in the league, just behind Robert Lewandowski.
After the winter break, Patrik scored four goals in six league matches. However, he got a muscle injury that made him miss six games. He finished the 2021–22 season as the league's second-highest scorer with 24 goals in 27 matches. He also won Leverkusen's Player of the Season award and extended his contract with the club until 2027.
Injury Challenges (2022–23)
On September 3, 2022, Patrik scored his first goal of the season against Freiburg. He scored again against Hertha BSC. However, he then suffered an adductor injury. He returned in February 2023 and scored a goal. He got another adductor injury, which meant he missed the rest of that season and the first half of the next. Overall, he missed 34 matches due to injuries that season.
Comeback and Historic Success (2023–24)
On November 30, 2023, Patrik returned from his long injury and scored a goal in a 2–0 win against BK Häcken in the Europa League. He went on to score five more goals and make one assist in his next six games. On December 20, he scored three goals in the first half against VfL Bochum, leading to a 4–0 victory.
In March 2024, Patrik scored three very important goals to help Bayer Leverkusen stay in the Europa League. He scored a late goal to draw 2–2 in the first game against Qarabağ FK.
