Tallon Griekspoor (born on July 2, 1996) is a professional tennis player from the Netherlands. He reached his highest singles ranking of world No. 21 in November 2023. He is currently the top-ranked Dutch singles player. Tallon has won three major ATP Tour titles. He also set a record in 2021 by winning eight Challenger titles in one season. He was the first player ever to win five Challenger titles in a row.

Early Life and Family

Tallon Griekspoor was born in Haarlem, Netherlands. He grew up in Nieuw-Vennep. His parents are Ron and Monique. Tallon has two older twin brothers, Scott and Kevin. Both of his brothers also play tennis.

Tallon and his brothers started playing tennis when he was six years old. They trained at the Nieuw-Vennep Tennis Club. When he was 12, he began playing at the Zandvoort Tennis Club.

Starting Out: 2017–2019

Tallon Griekspoor played his first main ATP tournament in 2017. This was at the Rotterdam Open. A year later, at the same tournament, he surprised everyone by beating Stan Wawrinka. In 2019, he again caused an upset at the Rotterdam Open, defeating Karen Khachanov in the first round.

Big Steps: 2020–2021

Tallon played in his first Grand Slam tournament at the 2020 Australian Open. By August 2020, he was ranked among the top 150 players in the world.

In 2021, Tallon won two Challenger tournaments. He then played in his first Wimbledon tournament. After Wimbledon, he won his fifth Challenger title at the Dutch Open in Amersfoort. He beat his fellow Dutch player, Botic van de Zandschulp, in the final.

At the US Open, Tallon won his first match at a Grand Slam. He defeated Jan-Lennard Struff. He then lost to the world No. 1 player, Novak Djokovic. In September, he won his sixth Challenger title. This was his fourth Challenger win of 2021.

The next month, he won his seventh Challenger title in Naples. The following week, he won his eighth Challenger title. With this win, Tallon became the record holder for most Challenger trophies in a single year. He also entered the top 100 rankings for the first time. By November 2021, he reached a new career-high ranking of No. 64.

Reaching the Top 50: 2022

Tallon started 2022 at the Melbourne Summer Set 1. He reached the quarterfinals but had to withdraw due to a foot injury. At the Australian Open, he won his first match there. He defeated Fabio Fognini.

At the Rotterdam Open in his home country, he beat Aslan Karatsev. This was his third win against a top-20 player at this tournament. He also defeated Tommy Paul at the Geneva Open.

At the French Open, he won his first-round match against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. After Wimbledon, where he also won a match, he entered the top 50 rankings. He reached world No. 47 in July 2022. The next week, he won the Dutch Open Challenger title again.

In October 2022, Tallon won his first ATP doubles title. He teamed up with Botic van de Zandschulp at the European Open in Antwerp.

Winning ATP Titles: 2023

In January 2023, Tallon reached his first ATP singles final in Pune, India. He defeated Benjamin Bonzi to win his first ATP Tour singles title.

At the Australian Open, Tallon reached the third round of a Grand Slam for the first time. He beat Pavel Kotov and Botic van de Zandschulp. He then lost to Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Tallon reached the quarterfinals at the Rotterdam Open. He beat Alexander Zverev, which was his fourth win against a top-20 player at this tournament. He made it to the semifinals, becoming the first Dutch wildcard to do so since 2014. He reached a new career-high ranking in the top 40.

At the BNP Paribas Open, he reached the third round of a Masters tournament for the first time. He lost to the top seed, Carlos Alcaraz. By April 2023, he was ranked in the top 35.

In June 2023, Tallon won his second ATP title at the Libéma Open in the Netherlands. He beat Jordan Thompson in the final. This win made him the Dutch No. 1 player and put him in the top 30 rankings. He also reached the quarterfinals at the Halle Open.

At the Citi Open in Washington, he reached his third final of 2023. He upset world No. 9 Taylor Fritz, which was his first win against a top 10 player. He lost to Dan Evans in the final.

He reached the quarterfinals at the Astana Open and the Stockholm Open. In November 2023, he reached a new career-high ranking of No. 21 after playing at the Paris Masters.

Recent Success: 2024–2025

At the 2024 Australian Open, Tallon reached the third round for the second year in a row. In Rotterdam, he beat Hubert Hurkacz to reach the quarterfinals. In March 2024, he won his first ATP 500 doubles title at the Dubai Tennis Championships with Jan-Lennard Struff. He also reached the third round at Indian Wells and Miami.

At the Madrid Open, he beat Holger Rune to reach the fourth round of a Masters tournament for the first time. At the 2024 French Open, he reached the third round. In November 2024, Tallon helped the Netherlands reach the final of the Davis Cup for the first time in their history.

In early 2025, Tallon had a great run at the Dubai Tennis Championships. He defeated world No. 6 Daniil Medvedev, saving four match points. This was his 100th career win and his biggest win by ranking. At the 2025 BNP Paribas Open, he beat world No. 2 Alexander Zverev. This was his first win against a top 5 player. He then reached his first Masters quarterfinal, a first for a Dutch player at that tournament in 25 years. In April 2025, he reached the final of the Grand Prix Hassan II in Morocco. In June 2025, he won his third ATP singles title at the Mallorca Championships in Spain.
