Tallon Griekspoor (born 2 July 1996) is a professional tennis player from the Netherlands. He is currently the top-ranked Dutch singles player. Tallon has reached a career-high ranking of world No. 21 in singles. He also achieved a career-high ranking of No. 61 in doubles.

Tallon is known for winning a record eight Challenger titles in one season (2021). He was also the first player ever to win five Challenger titles in a row.

About Tallon Griekspoor

Tallon Griekspoor was born in Haarlem, Netherlands. He grew up in Nieuw-Vennep. He has two older brothers, Scott and Kevin, who are twins.

Tallon and his brothers started playing tennis when he was six years old. They trained at the Nieuw-Vennep Tennis Club. When he was 12, he moved to the Zandvoort Tennis Club to continue his training.

Starting Out: 2017–2019

Tallon Griekspoor played his first main ATP Tour match in 2017. This was at the Rotterdam Open. He got to play because he received a "wildcard," which is a special invitation.

In 2018, at the same tournament, he surprised many by beating Stan Wawrinka. Wawrinka was a top player at the time. Tallon won in three sets. In 2019, he again upset a higher-ranked player, Karen Khachanov, in the first round.

Big Steps: 2020–2021

In 2020, Tallon played in his first Grand Slam tournament. This was the 2020 Australian Open. By August 2020, he entered the top 150 players in the world.

In 2021, Tallon won two Challenger tournaments. These were the Prague Open and the Bratislava Open. He then played in Wimbledon for the first time.

After Wimbledon, he won his fifth Challenger title at the Dutch Open. He beat his fellow Dutch player, Botic van de Zandschulp, in the final.

At the US Open, Tallon reached the second round of a Grand Slam for the first time. He beat Jan-Lennard Struff in a tough five-set match. He then lost to the world No. 1 player, Novak Djokovic.

In the fall of 2021, Tallon continued his winning streak. He won his sixth Challenger title at the Murcia Open. He then won two more Challenger titles in Naples, Italy. These wins tied him with another player for the most Challenger titles in 2021. He also became one of only a few players to win six singles trophies in one season on the Challenger Tour. Because of these wins, he entered the top 100 players for the first time.

He then won his seventh Challenger title in Tenerife. This made him the record holder for most Challenger trophies in a single year. He won his eighth Challenger title at the Slovak Open II. This helped him reach a new career-high ranking of No. 64.

Rising Higher: 2022

Tallon started 2022 strong at the Melbourne Summer Set 1. He reached the quarterfinals but had to withdraw due to a foot injury. At the Australian Open, he won his first match there. He beat Fabio Fognini in straight sets.

At the Rotterdam Open, he beat Aslan Karatsev, a top-20 player. This was his third win against a top-20 player at his home tournament. He also beat Tommy Paul at the Geneva Open.

At the French Open, he defeated Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. After Wimbledon, where he also reached the second round, Tallon entered the top 50 players in the world. He then successfully defended his Challenger title at the Dutch Open.

In October 2022, Tallon won his first ATP doubles title. He teamed up with Botic van de Zandschulp at the European Open in Antwerp.

Breakthrough Year: 2023

In January 2023, Tallon reached his first ATP singles final in Pune, India. He won the final against Benjamin Bonzi. This was his first ATP Tour singles title!

At the Australian Open, Tallon reached the third round of a Grand Slam for the first time. He beat his fellow countryman, Botic van de Zandschulp. He then lost to the third seed, Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Tallon continued to play well at the Rotterdam Open. He beat Alexander Zverev, another top-20 player. He reached the semifinals of an ATP 500 tournament for the first time. This helped him reach a new career-high ranking in the top 40.

At the BNP Paribas Open, he reached the third round of a Masters tournament. He lost to the top seed, Carlos Alcaraz. By April 2023, he was ranked in the top 35.

In June, Tallon won his second ATP title at the Libéma Open in the Netherlands. He beat Jordan Thompson in the final. This win made him the No. 1 Dutch tennis player. He also entered the top 30 in the world rankings.

At the Citi Open in Washington, he reached his third final of 2023. He upset the top seed and world No. 9, Taylor Fritz. This was his first win against a top 10 player! He lost to Dan Evans in the final.

He reached the quarterfinals at the Astana Open and the Stockholm Open. He also reached the third round of the Paris Masters. He lost to world No. 1 Novak Djokovic there. This helped him reach a new career-high ranking of No. 21 in November 2023.

Recent Success: 2024

At the 2024 Australian Open, Tallon reached the third round for the second year in a row. He beat Roman Safiullin and Arthur Fils. In Rotterdam, he again beat a top player, Hubert Hurkacz.

In Dubai, he won his first ATP 500 doubles title with Jan-Lennard Struff. He also reached the third round at both Indian Wells and Miami.

In Madrid, he upset the seventh seed, Holger Rune. This helped him reach the fourth round of a Masters tournament for the first time. At the 2024 French Open, he reached the third round before losing to Alexander Zverev.

In November, Tallon helped the Netherlands reach the final of the 2024 Davis Cup. This was the first time in their country's history! He and Botic van de Zandschulp won their singles matches against Germany.
