Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia (often called just Trollhunters) is an American animated fantasy TV show. It was made for Netflix by Guillermo del Toro. The show is about a teenage boy named James “Jim” Lake Jr. He finds a special amulet and discovers a secret world of trolls and other magical creatures. Soon, Jim and his friends must protect our world from dangerous monsters hiding in their quiet town.
The first two episodes came out on October 8, 2016. The first season was released on Netflix on December 23, 2016. The second season came out on December 15, 2017, and the third and final season on May 25, 2018.
Trollhunters has received a lot of praise. Many people call it a great animated series. It was nominated for many Daytime Emmy Awards in 2017. It won more awards than any other animated or live-action TV show that year. The show also won or was nominated for a BAFTA Award, several Annie Awards, and other honors. Trollhunters has also inspired children's books and graphic novels.
Anton Yelchin voiced Jim Lake Jr. for the first two seasons. He had recorded enough lines before he passed away. Yelchin also provided some lines for the final season. Emile Hirsch then took over the role for the rest of the show.
Because the show was so popular, Guillermo del Toro announced that Trollhunters was the first part of a three-show story. This group of shows is called Tales of Arcadia. The story continued in a science fiction show called 3Below: Tales of Arcadia. The third and final show was a fantasy series called Wizards: Tales of Arcadia. A movie, Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans, is planned for July 2021.

What's the Story About?
The story of Trollhunters follows Jim Lake Jr., a normal teenager who becomes the first human Trollhunter. This means he is chosen to protect good trolls and humans from evil creatures.
Jim's First Adventures
Jim starts a secret double life with his best friend, Toby Domzalski. They get help from two friendly trolls, Blinky and AAARRRGGHH!!!. Jim faces challenges from other trolls and even from humans at school. He battles a powerful troll prince named Bular. Jim also learns that Claire Nuñez, his crush, has a brother who is a changeling. Changelings are trolls that can look like humans. After defeating Bular, Jim must fight a dangerous troll assassin, Angor Rot. He also works to save Claire's real brother and defeat the evil troll leader, Gunmar. Jim even goes into a dangerous place called the Darklands by himself.
Facing New Dangers
With Jim stuck in the Darklands, his friends try to rescue him. When Jim returns, he faces problems because of his actions. Blinky deals with old family issues. The trolls in Trollmarket worry about a spy among them. Things get even more complicated when Jim's classmates, Steve Palchuk and Eli Pepperjack, start to discover his secret life. Jim also has to deal with the usual pressures of high school.
The Final Battle
It's the end of Jim's sophomore year at Arcadia High. His secret life has affected his mom. Claire faces trouble from an ancient sorceress. Gunmar takes control of the Heartstone Trollmarket, the trolls' home. The powerful wizard Merlin turns Jim into a half-troll, half-human. The final battle is coming. Jim and Claire become closer. Jim realizes he might have to make a big sacrifice to defeat Gunmar.
