Troy Amos-Ross (born July 17, 1975) is a retired professional boxer from Guyana and Canada. He was known for his boxing skills. As a younger boxer, he competed in the light heavyweight division. He even went to the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta and the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia.

About Troy Ross's Family
Troy comes from a family of boxers! His dad, Charles Amos, was also a boxer. Charles represented Guyana at the 1968 Summer Olympics. Troy's first cousin, Egerton Marcus, won a silver medal for Canada. Egerton competed in the Middleweight division at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea.
Troy Ross's Boxing Journey
Troy Ross had an exciting boxing career. In the 1996 Olympics, he won two fights. He beat boxers from Seychelles and Cameroon. However, he lost in the quarterfinals to Vassili Jirov from Kazakhstan. Jirov later won the gold medal.
Troy hoped to win a gold medal at the 2000 Olympics. But he was knocked out in his first fight by a boxer from Nigeria.
After the 2000 Olympics, Troy became a professional boxer. He decided to retire in 2005 with a record of 13 wins and only 1 loss. He felt it was hard to find good opponents to fight.
But Troy made a comeback in 2007! On March 19, 2007, he won the Commonwealth Cruiserweight title. He knocked out John Keeton in the second round.
Troy Ross on The Contender
In 2008, Troy joined a boxing reality TV show called The Contender. The show was filmed in Singapore. Troy was part of the "gold team."
He won his first fight on January 14, 2009, against Lawrence Tauasa from Australia. Then, he beat Felix Cora Jr. from America in the quarterfinals. The fight was stopped in the first round because Troy was doing so well.
In the semifinals, Troy faced Akinyemi Laleye from Nigeria. Troy won that fight easily. Finally, Troy fought another Nigerian boxer, Ehinomen Ehikhamenor, in the finals. This big fight happened on February 25, 2009. Troy won the fight by TKO in the fourth round. This made him the champion of The Contender season 4!
Troy Ross's Life Outside the Ring
Troy Ross has also found success outside of boxing. He started his own clothing brand called Ross Wear. He has also acted in movies!
Troy Ross's Acting Roles
- In 2005, he appeared in the movie Cinderella Man. He acted alongside Russell Crowe. Troy played the role of a heavyweight boxer named John Henry Lewis.
- In 2007, Troy was in the movie Resurrecting the Champ. He acted with Josh Hartnett and Samuel L. Jackson. Troy played the younger version of the main character, "the champ."
- He also appeared in the movie Phantom Punch. In this movie, he played the famous heavyweight boxer Floyd Patterson.
