Zoomorphs facts for kids
Zoomorphs are super fun building toys made by a company called River Dolphin Toys. This company is based in Brooklyn, New York. Each Zoomorphs set comes with 30 to 100 plastic animal pieces.
You can snap these pieces together to build real animals, like a cat or a dinosaur. But the really cool part is that you can also mix and match the pieces to create your own amazing fantasy creatures! Imagine a dino-cat-horse-bird – you can build it! All the pieces from different Zoomorphs sets can be used together, which means endless possibilities for your creations. By late 2006, Zoomorphs were sold in nearly 1,100 special toy stores.
Zoomorphs Toy Collections
There are currently eleven different collections of Zoomorphs toys. Nine of these collections are based on real animals you might know. The other two collections are called Mythmorphs, and they were first released in early 2008.
Here are some of the exciting collections:
- Nightmorphs: This set includes animals that are active at night, like a fruit bat, a cat, a desert lizard, a lantern fish, a firefly, and a snake.
- MountainMorphs: Explore mountain animals with a Bluebird, a Bighorn sheep, a Grizzly bear, and a Mountain King Snake.
- Dinomorphs: Travel back in time with a stegosaur, a T-Rex, a duckbill dinosaur, and a pteranodon.
- Runners: This collection features fast creatures such as a gazelle, a velociraptor, a beetle, and a cassowary.
- Pets: Build your favorite companions with a pony, a husky dog, a goldfish, and a lovebird.
- Insects: Discover the world of bugs with a red ant, a cave bug, a wasp, and a monarch.
- Rain Forest: Journey to the jungle with a conure bird, a panther, a crocodile, and a tropical frog.
- Safarimorphs: Go on a safari adventure with a lizard, a parrot, a leopard, an elephant, a zebra, and a butterfly.
- Mythmorphs Gold: Create legendary creatures like a unicorn, the Loch Ness Monster, a sea dragon, and a griffon.
- Fossil Morphs: Dig up ancient creatures such as a mammoth, an Brontosaurus, a sea scorpion, and an ancient amphibian.
- Mythmorphs Silver: This set brings more mythical beings to life, including a phoenix, a pegasus, a wyvern, a golden boar, a capricorn, and a dragon.
Awards and Recognition
Zoomorphs toys have received several awards for being great educational toys.
- In 2007, Zoomorphs won the Top Seller Award from TDmonthly magazine.
- The Fliers set, which is no longer made, was nominated for the Family Fun Toy of the Year Award in 2005.
- In 2008, Zoomorphs was named the Best Toy in the Construction/Building Category by Leapin' Lizards Toy Co.
