  • On March 5, French soldiers, led by Marshal Louis-Francois de Boufflers, started a siege of the town of Mons. This town was controlled by Spain at the time.

  • On October 3, an important agreement called the Treaty of Limerick was signed. This treaty aimed to protect the civil rights of Catholics in Ireland. However, many people felt its promises were not kept for long.
