Doh Kyung-soo (Hangul: 도경수; born January 12, 1993), known by his stage name D.O. (Hangul: 디오), is a famous South Korean singer and actor. He is a member of the popular K-pop boy band Exo.

Besides his work with Exo, D.O. has acted in many TV shows and movies. Some of his well-known roles are in Pure Love (2016), My Annoying Brother (2016), 100 Days My Prince (2018), and The Moon (2023). He also started his solo music career in 2021 with his first album, Empathy. The Korean Film Council even chose D.O. as one of the top 200 Korean actors who show the bright future of Korean movies.

Life and Career

Early Life and Becoming a Star (1993–2015)

D.O. was born on January 12, 1993, in Seoul, South Korea. He grew up loving to sing from a young age. He often joined singing contests in high school. After winning one competition, he was told to audition for SM Entertainment. This is a big entertainment company in South Korea.

He became a trainee at SM Entertainment during his last two years of high school. This means he trained hard to become a singer and performer.

D.O. was officially introduced as the eighth member of Exo on January 30, 2012. Exo is a very popular K-pop group. The group officially started their career on April 8 with their first album, Mama.

In 2013, D.O. sang on a song called "Goodbye Summer" with the group f(x). In 2014, he started acting in the movie Cart. He played a high school student. He also sang a song for the movie called "Crying Out". Later in 2014, D.O. acted in his first TV drama, It's Okay, That's Love. People really liked his acting in this show. In 2015, he also appeared in the drama Hello Monster.

Main Roles and Military Service (2016–2020)

In 2016, D.O. lent his voice to an animated film called Underdog. He voiced a stray dog named Moongchi. He also released a duet song called "Tell Me (What Is Love)" with Yoo Young-jin.

In February 2016, D.O. played the main male role in the romantic movie Pure Love. Later that year, he starred in a web drama called Be Positive. This show became the most watched Korean web drama ever! In November 2016, D.O. acted in the movie My Annoying Brother. He played a Judo athlete. He even won an award for Best New Actor for this role.

In 2017, D.O. appeared in the comedy film Room No.7. He also had a supporting role in the fantasy film Along With the Gods: The Two Worlds. In 2018, D.O. starred in Swing Kids. In this movie, he played a North Korean soldier who loves tap dancing. Later that year, he got his first main role in a TV drama, 100 Days My Prince. This show was very popular and was even shown in Japan.

In July 2019, D.O. began his mandatory military service in South Korea. He released a song called "That's Okay" on the same day. In 2020, he also performed in a military musical called Return: The Promise of the Day.

Solo Debut and New Beginnings (2021–Present)

After his military service, D.O. returned to acting. In 2020, it was announced he would star in the film The Moon, playing an astronaut. This movie was released in 2023. He was also cast in Secret, a remake of a Taiwanese film, where he plays a piano student.

In March 2021, D.O. was chosen as one of 200 actors for a special campaign by the Korean Film Council. This campaign highlights the best actors in Korean cinema.

On July 26, 2021, D.O. released his first solo album, an extended play (EP) called Empathy. He even helped write the lyrics for some of the songs, including the main song "Rose." The album was a big success.

In 2022, D.O. appeared in a travel show called Off The Grid. He also returned to TV dramas with Bad Prosecutor, where he played a unique prosecutor. He won an award for his acting in this drama.

In 2023, D.O. joined a variety show called No Math School Trip. He also released his second solo EP, Expectation, in September 2023. In October 2023, it was announced that D.O. would be leaving SM Entertainment for his solo work. He joined a new company called Company SooSoo, but he will still be a part of Exo with SM Entertainment.

In April 2024, D.O. announced his third EP, Blossom, and a new song called "Mars." He also plans to go on an Asian tour called "Bloom" starting in June 2024.
