Hirving Rodrigo Lozano Bahena (born 30 July 1995), often called Chucky, is a Mexican professional footballer. He plays as a winger for the Major League Soccer club San Diego FC and the Mexico national team.
Lozano started his career with Pachuca in Mexico. He helped them win the 2016 Clausura league title and the 2016–17 CONCACAF Champions League. In 2017, he moved to the Dutch team PSV and won the Eredivisie league in his first year. He was also their top scorer. In 2019, Lozano joined the Italian club Napoli. This move made him the most expensive Mexican player ever at the time. He won a Serie A title with Napoli before returning to PSV in 2023.
Hirving Lozano has played for various Mexican youth teams. He won the 2015 CONCACAF U-20 Championship and played in the 2016 Summer Olympics. He first played for the senior national team in 2016. Since then, he has represented Mexico in major tournaments like the Copa América Centenario, the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup, and the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Club Career Highlights
Starting at Pachuca
Hirving Lozano was born in Mexico City. When he was 11, he joined the youth academy of C.F. Pachuca. He played well in the younger leagues. In 2014, at 18, he joined the first team. On 8 February 2014, he made his Liga MX debut against Club América. He scored a goal just five minutes after coming into the game, helping Pachuca win 1–0.
In his first full season, the Clausura 2014, Pachuca finished as runner-up. Lozano scored a goal in the final. On 19 March 2016, he scored his first hat-trick (three goals in one game) for Pachuca in a big 6–0 win against Veracruz. Pachuca won the Clausura league title that season. Lozano was named one of the best players in the league.
In 2016, Lozano scored four goals in an 11–0 win against Police United in the 2016–17 CONCACAF Champions League group stage. This was a record for the biggest win in the tournament's history. He also won the Golden Boot (top scorer) and Best Young Player award in the 2016–17 CONCACAF Champions League.
Moving to PSV Eindhoven
In June 2017, Lozano signed a six-year contract with the Dutch club PSV Eindhoven. He was the fifth Mexican player to join PSV. He made his debut in a Europa League qualifying match.
On 12 August, Lozano scored in his first Eredivisie league game for PSV against AZ Alkmaar. He continued to score in his next two games, becoming the first PSV player to score in his first three matches. He was named Eredivisie Player of the Month for August.
Lozano helped PSV win the Eredivisie title on 15 April 2018. He finished the season as the team's top scorer with 17 goals and also had 11 assists. He was included in the league's Team of the Season.
Second Season at PSV
In the 2018–19 season, Lozano continued to play well. He scored in PSV's first league game. He also made his UEFA Champions League debut, scoring a goal against BATE. He scored his first goal in the Champions League group stage against Tottenham Hotspur. Lozano was named in the Champions League breakthrough team of 2018.
In April 2019, Lozano got an injury that made him miss the rest of the season.
Time at Napoli
On 23 August 2019, Lozano joined the Italian club Napoli. He signed a five-year contract. The transfer fee was about €42 million, making him the most expensive Mexican player ever at that time. Eight days later, he made his Serie A debut against Juventus, scoring a goal in a 4–3 loss.
In June 2020, Lozano became the first Mexican player to win a title with an Italian club. Napoli won the Coppa Italia by beating Juventus in a penalty shootout.
Success in 2020–21
In the 2020–21 season, Lozano scored his first two goals for Napoli in a 6–0 win against Genoa. He scored another two goals against Atalanta. On 24 January 2021, he scored a goal against Hellas Verona just 8.95 seconds into the game. This was the third-fastest goal in Serie A history and Napoli's fastest ever. Four days later, he scored his 100th career goal in a Coppa Italia match. He finished his second season with 11 league goals, making him the club's second-highest scorer.
Winning the Serie A Title
Lozano helped Napoli win the Serie A title in the 2022–23 season. This made him the first Mexican player to win the Italian league. He also played a key role as the team reached the Champions League quarter-finals.
Back to PSV
On 1 September 2023, Lozano returned to PSV Eindhoven, signing a five-year contract. On 29 October, he scored his first hat-trick for PSV in a 5–2 win against Ajax. He was the first PSV player to score three goals against Ajax since 2005. Lozano helped PSV win the Eredivisie title again.
Joining San Diego FC
On 6 June 2024, the Major League Soccer club San Diego FC announced that Lozano would join them for their first season in 2025. He signed a four-year contract. Lozano became the first "Designated Player" for the new club.
On 23 February 2025, Lozano made his debut for San Diego FC. He provided an assist in their first goal, helping them win 2–0. On 5 April, he scored his first goal for San Diego FC in a 3–0 home win. On 3 May, Lozano scored two goals and had two assists in a big 5–0 victory against Dallas.
International Career
Youth Teams
In 2014, Lozano was called up to play for the Mexico U20 team. He played in the 2015 CONCACAF U-20 Championship. In one game, he scored two goals and had four assists in a 9–1 win. Mexico won the tournament, which helped them qualify for the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup. Lozano was the top scorer in the tournament with five goals.
In 2015, Lozano also played in the CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying Championship. He scored a goal in the semi-final against Canada. Mexico won the tournament, and Lozano was named the best player.
In 2016, Lozano was part of the Mexico team for the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Mexico was eliminated in the group stage.
Senior National Team
Lozano first played for the senior national team in February 2016. On 10 February, he played in a friendly match against Senegal, helping Mexico win 2–0. The next month, he scored his first international goal in a World Cup qualifying match against Canada.
In June 2017, Lozano was part of Mexico's squad for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia. He scored a key goal against the host team, Russia, helping Mexico win 2–1. He was named the best player of that match.
On 1 September 2017, Lozano scored the only goal in a World Cup qualifying match against Panama. This goal helped Mexico qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
2018 FIFA World Cup
On 4 June 2018, Lozano was named in Mexico's squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. On 17 June, he scored the only goal in Mexico's opening group match against the defending champions, Germany. He was named FIFA's Man of the Match for his performance. In Mexico's second match against South Korea, Lozano assisted a goal, helping Mexico win 2–1. Mexico reached the Round of 16 but lost to Brazil.
Lozano was also part of Mexico's team for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. He started in all their matches. Mexico was eliminated in the group stage, which was their first time since 1978.
In March 2024, Lozano played in the 2024 CONCACAF Nations League final where Mexico lost to the United States. He has not been called up to the national team since then.

Hirving Lozano has a younger brother named Bryan Mauricio, who is also a footballer.
Lozano married Ana Obregón in 2014. They met when he was playing for Pachuca. They have two children: a daughter born in 2014 and a son born in 2017.
His Nickname
Lozano is famously known as Chucky. This nickname comes from the scary doll in the ... Play horror movies. He reportedly got the name when he was young because he used to hide under his teammates' beds and scare them.
