Meet the Animals: A World Tour!

Hunter Valley Wildlife Park is home to animals from many different continents. Let's explore some of the amazing creatures you can find there.

Animals from Africa

Step into the African savanna right here in Australia! You can see powerful Southern African lions, including rare white-coated ones. Watch speedy Cheetahs and clever Meerkats. Look out for tall Giraffes and unique Plains zebras with their stripes. Don't miss the huge Dromedary camels and the fluffy Barbary sheep. You might also spot the giant Common ostrich, the world's largest bird.

Animals from Asia

Travel to Asia without leaving the park! Here you can meet the interesting Binturong, also known as a bearcat. It's a furry animal that smells like popcorn! You can also see the graceful Blackbuck, an antelope with spiral horns.

Other primates include the Cotton-top tamarin, Red-handed tamarin, and the curious Bolivian squirrel monkey. Don't forget the smart Tufted capuchin and the agile Black handed spider monkey.

Explore the amazing mammals native to Australia. You can see the iconic Koalas, often found sleeping in trees. Watch Dingos, Australia's wild dogs. The park is home to different types of wombats, like the Bare-nosed wombat and the Southern hairy nosed wombat. Smaller marsupials like the Yellow-footed rock-wallaby, Swamp wallaby, and Bennett's wallaby are also here. A special treat is seeing the adorable Quokka, known for its happy smile. Colorful parrots and cockatoos are abundant, such as the Major Mitchell's cockatoo, Red-tailed black cockatoo, Sulphur crested cockatoo, and the playful Galah. You can also spot the beautiful Eclectus parrot, Australian king parrot, and the lively Rainbow lorikeet, Scaly-breasted lorikeet, and Red-collared lorikeet.

The park also has a fascinating collection of reptiles. See the impressive Rhinoceros iguana with its horn-like scales. Meet different types of bearded dragons, like the Central bearded dragon and the Eastern bearded dragon. You can also find the Eastern blue-tongued lizard and the unique Shingleback lizard.
