This is a list of the many hills you can find in Somerset, a county in southern England. Many of these hills are important places. They have historical sites, old archaeological finds, and are great spots for nature. People also love to hike and visit them!

What Makes a Hill Special?

Hills are often classified by how much they stand out from the land around them. This is called "prominence." A hill with high prominence usually means it's the highest point nearby and often has amazing views.

Here's how hills in Somerset are grouped:

Type of Hill How Much it Stands Out (Prominence)
Marilyns 150 to 599 metres (about 500 feet or more)
HuMPs 100 to 149 metres
TuMPs 30 to 99 metres
Unclassified 0 to 29 metres

The table above uses colors to show the different types of hills. For example, Marilyns are shown in beige, and HuMPs are in lilac. A "Marilyn" is a hill that stands out by at least 150 metres. A "HuMP" (which stands for Hundred Metre Prominence) stands out by at least 100 metres but less than 150 metres. A "TuMP" stands out by at least 30 metres but less than 100 metres.
