Portland, Oregon, is a city full of green spaces! It has over 10,000 acres (about 4,000 hectares) of public parks and natural areas. Imagine having so much space to explore and play!

Portland is home to some truly unique parks. You'll find Forest Park, which is one of the largest city parks in the United States. It's huge! On the other hand, Portland also has the world's smallest park, Mill Ends Park, which is only 2 feet (61 cm) across. It's tiny!

The city's park system grew thanks to a plan from 1903. Today, Portland has at least 279 parks and natural spots. Most of these are managed by Portland Parks & Recreation. However, some parks are also looked after by the State of Oregon, the Metro regional government, the Portland Water Bureau, and even the Federal Government.
