The Pearl Buck House is where a famous writer named Pearl S. Buck was born. She won a Nobel Prize for her books! This house is located northeast of Hillsboro on U.S. Route 219. It was added to the National Register on June 15, 1970.

Richard Beard House

The Richard Beard House is another historic home. It is found off County Road 31 on Kyle Beard Road, near Hillsboro. This house became a historic listing on March 20, 2002.

Frank and Anna Hunter House

The Frank and Anna Hunter House is located on U.S. Route 219 in Marlinton. It was added to the National Register on May 13, 1976.

Huntersville Presbyterian Church

The Huntersville Presbyterian Church is a historic church building. You can find it at County Route 21 and West Virginia Route 39 in Huntersville. It joined the list on October 4, 1978.

IOOF Lodge Building

The IOOF Lodge Building is in Marlinton, at the corner of 8th Street and Second Avenue. This building became a historic site on March 24, 2000.

Marlinton Opera House

The Marlinton Opera House is on Third Avenue in Marlinton. It was listed on the National Register on March 24, 2000. Imagine all the shows and events that happened here!

Pocahontas County Courthouse and Jail

The Pocahontas County Courthouse and Jail is an important building in Marlinton. It is located at 900C Tenth Avenue. This site was added to the list on July 15, 1994.

Pocahontas Times Print Shop

The Pocahontas Times Print Shop is at 810 2nd Avenue in Marlinton. This is where the local newspaper was printed! It became a historic site on September 22, 1977.

Pleasant Green Methodist Episcopal Church

The Pleasant Green Methodist Episcopal Church is on Seebert Road in Seebert. This church was added to the National Register on December 12, 2012.

Seebert Lane Colored School

The Camp Bartow Historic District is another Civil War site. It is at the junction of U.S. Route 250 and West Virginia Routes 28 and 92 in Bartow. This district was added to the National Register on May 10, 1996.

Droop Mountain Battlefield State Park

Droop Mountain Battlefield is a state park and a historic site. It is about 14 miles south of Marlinton on U.S. Route 219. This battlefield was listed on January 26, 1970. It was the last major Civil War battle in West Virginia.

The Marlinton Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad Station was once a busy train station in Marlinton. It was located at 8th Street and 4th Avenue. Sadly, this station was destroyed by fire, but it remains a historic listing from August 29, 1979.

McNeel Mill

The McNeel Mill is an old mill located on U.S. Route 219 near Mill Point. Mills were important for grinding grain. This mill was listed on August 8, 1985.

GW Jeep Site

The GW Jeep Site is a special archaeological site near Green Bank. Its exact location is restricted to protect it. It was listed on December 23, 1993, and even extends into Highland County, Virginia.

New Deal Resources in Watoga State Park Historic District

The New Deal Resources in Watoga State Park Historic District includes buildings and structures built during the "New Deal" era in the 1930s. This park is located about 9 miles southwest of West Virginia Route 39, near Marlinton. It was added to the National Register on February 4, 2011.
