List of neighborhoods in Chicago facts for kids
Chicago is a huge city with many different areas, and it's divided into 178 official neighborhoods! These neighborhoods have changed over time, often because of new buildings or different groups of people moving in.
Besides neighborhoods, Chicago also has 77 "community areas." These larger areas were created by researchers from the University of Chicago in the late 1920s. Community areas are very clearly defined and usually include several neighborhoods. People who live in Chicago often use neighborhood names more than community area names.
