Petr (Peter) Shelokhonov was a famous Russian actor and director. He was born on August 15, 1929, in Belarus and passed away on September 15, 1999, in St. Petersburg, Russia. Petr Shelokhonov acted in over 90 movies and TV shows. He also performed in more than 100 stage plays. In 1979, he was given the special title of Honorable Actor of Russia.

About Petr Shelokhonov
Petr Shelokhonov had a mixed family background, with roots in Ukraine, Lithuania, Belarus, and Poland. He lived through a very tough time during World War II when the Nazis occupied his home country. Even though he was wounded in the face by a gunshot during the war, this injury did not stop him from following his dream of becoming an actor.
During the war, Petr Shelokhonov joined the resistance fighters, known as partisans. In 1943, he even created his own puppet theater! He used his puppet shows to make fun of Hitler. After the war, in 1945, he started studying piano at the Kiev Conservatory of Music.
In the 1950s, Petr moved to Siberia in the city of Irkutsk. There, he finished his studies at the Irkutsk Drama School. Later, he worked in many different cities, including Moscow and St. Petersburg in Russia, and also in Odesa and Kyiv in Ukraine.
Petr Shelokhonov was part of five different theatre companies in Russia. He also acted in plays, movies, and TV shows made in other countries. His acting career lasted for over 50 years! He played many different kinds of characters, from a prince like Hamlet in Shakespeare's plays to the Soviet leader Lenin.
From 1989 to 1992, he played the main character, Sam, in a play called Photo Finish. This play was written and directed by the famous Peter Ustinov. In 1993 and 1994, he starred as Victor Velasco in Neil Simon's play Barefoot in the Park. In 1997, Petr Shelokhonov had a supporting role in the movie Anna Karenina, which starred Sophie Marceau and Sean Bean.
Petr Shelokhonov passed away on September 15, 1999, in St. Petersburg. He was 70 years old and died from a cardiac arrest.
