Southeast Georgia is a special area in the state of Georgia, right next to Florida. It has eighteen counties, which are like smaller parts of the region. Part of this region is called the Lower Coastal Plain.
The biggest city here is Valdosta. It's the main city for the whole Valdosta area. Lowndes County has the most people, and Valdosta is its main town. In 2020, about 416,498 people lived in Southeast Georgia.

Where is Southeast Georgia Located?
Southeast Georgia is in the southern part of the state. It's also part of a larger area known as the Deep South. This region is not very high above sea level. A large part of its land is covered by the Okefenokee Swamp.

Many people in Southeast Georgia practice Christianity. This region is part of the Bible Belt. Most Christians here are Protestant. The largest group is the Southern Baptist Convention. Other big Protestant groups include Methodists and Pentecostals.
The Catholic Church is the largest Christian group that is not Protestant. Long ago, during European settlement, Spanish Catholics built missions in this area.
