Early Ideas: A Ship Through Space
- In 1879, a writer named Henry George wrote about Earth as a "well-provisioned ship" sailing through space. He meant that our planet has everything we need, but we must share it fairly.
- Later, George Orwell, another famous writer, also talked about the world as a "raft sailing through space." He believed it had plenty for everyone if we all cooperated and did our part.
