Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go! (スーパー・ロボット・モンキー・チーム・ハイパーフォース GO!, Sūpā Robotto Monkī Chīmu Haipāfōsu GO!) (often called SRMTHFG) is a cool TV show that mixes Japanese and American animation styles. It was created by Ciro Nieli, who also worked on Teen Titans.

The show was made by Jetix Animation Concepts and animated by The Answer Studio. It was the first original show for the Jetix TV block. It first aired on September 18, 2004.

The story mostly takes place on a planet called Shuggazoom. It follows a human boy named Chiro and five cyborg monkeys. They work together to protect their planet and the whole universe from evil forces.

The Story of SRMTHFG

The Super Robot Monkey Team lives in Shuggazoom City. This city covers a big part of their home planet, Shuggazoom. The rest of the planet has empty or wild areas. The largest empty area is called "The Zone of Wasted Years."

The main character is a boy named Chiro. One day, he was exploring outside the city. He found a huge, old robot that was partly covered in plants. He went inside and found a power switch.

When he pulled the switch, he woke up five robotic monkeys! These monkeys formed the Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce. Chiro also got a special power called the Power Primate. This power made him stronger and braver. He became the leader of the team.

The five Robot Monkeys are Sparx, Antauri, Gibson, Otto, and Nova. Their mission is to save Shuggazoom City from the evil Skeleton King. They also fight any other bad guys who threaten the universe.

Chiro wasn't born a superhero. The five Robot Monkeys train him to use his new abilities. He becomes the leader, helping the team work together. Each monkey has different skills, and Chiro helps them focus.

When they fight big enemies, the Hyperforce uses the Super Robot. This giant robot can work as one big machine or split into six different vehicles. Its main attack is the Lasertron Fury. This powerful energy beam shoots from its chest.

The Super Robot also serves as Chiro and the Monkeys' headquarters. It's their home when it's parked in Shuggazoom City.

As the show goes on, we learn more about Shuggazoom and the Robot Monkeys. They were created a long time ago by a smart inventor called the Alchemist. He made them to fight the Skeleton King. The team also gets new friends and faces many different enemies.

Exploring Shuggazoom's Worlds

Shuggazoom is the planet where the Hyperforce lives. It has different areas, each with its own unique features.

Shuggazoom City: Home Base

Shuggazoom City is the only city on the planet. It's where the Hyperforce lives and has many businesses, homes, and parks. The city is built on tall supports above a huge water supply. This gives them clean drinking water.

The Zone of Wasted Years: A Barren Land

This is a rocky desert area outside Shuggazoom City. It covers most of the planet. The Pit of Doom is here, and a deep gorge where Captain Shuggazoom was found.

The Savage Lands: Hidden Jungle

This is a tropical jungle hidden in caves under Shuggazoom. It has a black ooze that creates evil creatures called Formless. There are also old temples and tombs, suggesting an ancient civilization lived here. The Alchemist's laboratory is also in this jungle.

The Sea of Ice: Frozen North

This is a frozen plain at Shuggazoom's North Pole. Only Morlath and his snow monsters live here. The Ice Crystal of Vengeance was found in this icy place.

The Blasted Lands: A Fiery Past

This is a forgotten place south of the Zone of Wasted Years. A huge war happened here centuries ago, destroying everyone. Now, it's a burning and unstable land because of the hatred from that war. The Fire of Hate was located here.

Arcane Isle: A Mysterious Portal

This is a small island with a large monolith. The monolith acts as a portal to the Netherworld, which is the home of the Dark Ones.

Ranger 7: Shuggazoom's Moon

This is Shuggazoom's moon, which is mostly empty. It has a supermax space prison. A fuzzy ball creature called Thingy was also found here.

How the Show Was Made

Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go! was created by Ciro Nieli. He also worked on other shows like Teen Titans and ¡Mucha Lucha!. The show has a strong anime look, even though it was made for American TV.

The creators were also inspired by shows like Star Trek, Super Sentai (which is like Power Rangers), Voltron, and Star Wars. The show also includes fun references to pop culture. For example, the episode "Season of the Skull" is a funny version of the old movie The Wicker Man.

Lynne Naylor was the Art Director for the show. She designed characters for Samurai Jack and Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi. Her husband, Chris Reccardi, was the assistant director. He wrote for Samurai Jack and The Powerpuff Girls.

Could SRMTHFG Return?

On December 5, 2014, the show's creator, Ciro Nieli, was asked if the show might ever come back. He said he has a plan for how the story would end! He hopes to make it someday, either as a movie or a whole new season.

He mentioned that the ending could pick up right after the last episode. Or, it could jump forward five years to a big war between the undead and robot chimps. He said it would be "awesome" and that he has it all figured out. He really wants to make it happen for the fans!

Where and When It Aired

SRMTHFG first aired on the ABC Family's Jetix TV block on September 18, 2004. It also played on Toon Disney's Jetix block. The show moved to air only on Toon Disney in August 2006.

It was also shown in the UK on Jetix UK starting January 1, 2005. Later, the whole series was shown in the UK on GMTV's Toonattik.

The show was made to be seen on widescreen TVs. However, it was often shown cropped (cut off on the sides) by the TV networks. Each episode was about 20 minutes long without commercials.

The theme song for the show is performed by a Japanese band called Polysics.

Disney did not continue the show for a fifth season. This might have been because not enough toys or other products were sold. This left the show with a cliffhanger ending, meaning the story didn't fully finish.

Good news for fans! On July 3, 2020, it was announced that the first two seasons would be available to stream on Disney+ starting July 17. Actually, all 52 episodes were added! They were grouped into two seasons of 26 episodes each. However, the show was shown in a 4:3 ratio instead of its original widescreen. Some episodes were also in the wrong order.
